Topic: New Pictures on Profile
Ok, I'm about 2 1/2 weeks late for my 7 month post-op pictures, but with the Hurricane situation last month, I just haven't gotten around to posting. If your interested in seeing them, they are at the bottom of my profile. Hugs, Dana Lap RNY 2-21-05 260/239/136/130

Topic: RE: 5 lbs in 4 days !!!!
Krystle, I'm not below goal, about 6 lbs away from it and yes getting to thin is a concern for me. I am wearing a size 6, some 8's in pants depending on manufacturer, I actually put on a pair of size 4's and if it wasn't for all the skin they would have fit comfortably. I wear a size Medium/Large shirt depending again on who makes them, I do still wear a 36 DD bra though and that has something to do with my shirt sizes. Ok, now off of the rambling, I go to my surgeon on November 25 and I expect he will be riding my tail because I am losing faster than he wants. He told me I need to eat freely, don't count carbs, etc but I can't, I don't care for potatoes or bread any more and I still can't eat much at a time, he only said 3 meals a day but I do add in at least one snack and a shake or two a day but I continue to loose pretty easily. I look at myself in the mirror and my face is looking older, I think you replied to my post about looking older last week. I do need to put a new picture on my profile, don't look at the last ones it isn't to noticable but the last 10 lbs I've seen a notable change. Call your surgeon, you may need to add in some Ensure or something of that nature to add in calories. Do you drink protein drinks with milk between meals, that will add some extra calories to your day? don't wait to long to talk to someone, I agree, it isn't healthy for you go get to thin or become anorexic. Hugs, Dana

Topic: RE: Goal Weight Question
Mine is actually higher than my surgeons. His is 160 or less, mine is 175 or so. I will be happy when I look like I want. I try not to focus too much on numbers.

Buna, I had my surgery on Feb. 1 and have lost 134 pounds. It sounds like we're on the same track!! You are not eating enough in my opinion. I eat twice as much as you do in a day. I try to stay between 1,000 and 1,200 calories a day and I'm steadily losing 2 pounds per week. Is this the first time you've stalled? There was a time a few weeks ago, where I stayed the same weight for three weeks in a row. I was going crazy. But, eventually it started falling off again. Do you exercise? I try to exercise every day and if I work out extra hard one day, it seems to jog the weight to fall off faster! Good luck and you are doing fine!!! You might try to increase your calorie intake a little bit. Are you hungry at all? See, if you eat too little calories, your body will hold onto the weight because it thinks your starving it. Good Luck! Kristen :*)

Topic: RE: Goal Weight Question
My goal weight is actually higher than my surgeon's goal. *L* I KNOW he's a doctor, but I think he is being unrealistic. He set my goal weight at 140-145...Well, ladies and gents, I'm 5'11. I think I would look sickly at that weight. I started out at 311 lbs...surgery was February 10th. I'm now at 208. Personally, I'm just trying to get under 200. *L* And according to the BMI scale, I could weigh 179 and be officially "normal weight". Everyone that has known me says I look much smaller than my weight, thanks to my height. I am wearing at 14...could probably wear a 10 if it wasn't for the skin. I ALREADY have a consulation scheduled for Jan 23rd for abdominoplasty after visiting with my PCP. He took one look at my panni (I was actually there because of anemia!) and said, "Oh yeah, they're gonna approve that" (We have TriCare)..*crosses fingers* Hopefully they'll at least let me get to my year re-birth date before I have a surgery date.

hi buna: sounds as though you're doing really, really well. since you asked for comments, though, i'd have to agree with prior post. not losing in a week isn't a big deal. your body's doing it's best to keep up with the new you - so relax, make sure you're following all the rules your dr gave you, and enjoy the new you. hugs dorthe

it doesn't sound like you are eating too much. do you track your calories, fat, and protein intake? i use fitday.com to track all my food and activities daily. i know every doctor is different and my doctor has me on the 3 meals no snacks deal so i'm not sure how it works with the snacks in between. but 136 pounds is a lot dear! that's great!! don't get upset about not losing for a week...that happens to me often now. your body is just catching up. check yourself i'll bet you've lost inches. i sat at 180 pounds for a couple weeks and my pants size went down without losing any weight. try that i think you'll be amazed that there are inches gone. hi krystle. i'm so sorry to hear you're not happy with your results at the moment. sounds as though one or two sessions with a wls counselor or dietician might be in order. it seriously can be an issue, anorexia after wls, and i'd hate to see you have that issue. please do what you need to do to take care of you, girl. you've come so very far in such a short time - the changes are overwhelming and take some getting used to. and listen to your dr, too. they really, truly do know a whole lot about this, you know. healing hugs for you dorthe
