Topic: Friend wanting to have WLS denied by Ins.
Hello everyone!!! I would like all of those who had WLS surgery and were denied once, twice, or more by their insurance company what avenues did you have go down and what procedures did you and your PCP have to go through in order for you to be finally approved for your surgery. I have a friend that wants to have the surgery but she is not getting much support from her PCP and also her insurance has denied her once. What should she do????

Girl you are so right we are close, I'm 15 lbs from surgeons goal and 20 from mine. I think 125 will work for me even at 5'1", I'm still rather large breasted although I see a lift / possible reduction in my future . I'm currently wearing an 8-10 pants and M/L (mostly large) shirts (see comment above). I'm hoping to be in a size 6 pants and medium shirt. I don't see it in the mirror either, I can tell when I compare pictures there is a significant change but the mind continues to play games with me. Hey did you keep a pair of your pants from pre-op? I kept a pair of my 24W jeans, put them on night before last and fit in one leg, started crying truly amazing where we came from. Dana

Thanks, you look amazing to, isn't this the best. I'm real excited about my progress so far, although it is slowing down alot I haven't had a long stall, 2 weeks at the longest and I'm smiling about that. You know what worries me now, is will I be depressed or upset when I hit goal and the scale isn't moving like it has been for the last 6 1/2 months? I'm sure you lose the "HIGH" we are on right now, kinda scary. Best wishes, Dana

Hi everybody. I just wanted to share, I am a short 16 lbs away from my doc's initial goal of 130 lbs for me. Like I've said in the past, both my sisters weigh 115 lbs, so that's where I set my own personal goal to be... I see it very near in the future! How exciting. I remember when I was 122 lbs away from my own personal goal. It seemed so unattainable. So unreal to even lose that much weight! I can't believe how close I am!!! The only sad thing is I really don't see the weight loss, so I'm not enjoying it that much...except for the fact that I can shop just about anywhere now! That's the best! To walk into a store already knowing what size u are, and knowing they got ur size is the most amazing feeling in the world! I'm currently a size 4 in shirts, and a size 9 in pants...do I see a size 5/6 in the future...ummm..definitely yes! My goal is to wear a size 3/4 pant or even a size 1! Wow! That's setting ur goal realistically...but I guess we'll see in 5 more months.... 2/16/06 5'3" 237/146/115...that's what both my sisters weight anyway!

Tavia, I just want to let u know ur story brought tears to my eyes...My heart goes out to u for all u've been thru and endured. All I can say is that u are truly blessed with an amazing husband because sometimes when we go through that kind of experience, support IS what really gets u thru it. I hope u cherish that man for all that he is. Welcome to OH and I hope to hear from u frequently. I forget sometimes how fortunate I am to have undergone the procedure with no complications. More power to you for having lived and still standing strong!

Wow! How exciting! I know how u feel! It's the most amazing feeling to grab a pair of pants on the rack and KNOW they're already gonna fit! No more digging through the piles of "skinny people clothes" from the diamond of a larger size! I used to hate shopping, dreaded it! I would buy things for my family or sisters instead because I KNEW I couldn't shop for myself. Now...I'm a shopaholic...watch out!!! Congrats on ur amazing progress, girl!
