Susan, I find that interesting on how much the skin weighs. Someone emailed me before and after pictures the other day on her LBL and she had 17 lbs of skin removed, it didn't even look like it was that much.
Makes me wonder how much excess skin I have, I thought maybe 5 lbs on my tummy but from recent research, pictures and such, I'm guessing I have at least 10 lbs, possibly more.
Hugs,
Dana

Kathleen, most of us can relate to the slow weight loss we are now experiencing....don't give up, you will lose more. At some point it has to slow down right?
If you continue to eat protein first, vegetables, fruit and then maybe a bite of carbs you should see the scale move downward just slower than we like.
Do you track your food intake? I use fitday.com to track what I put into my mouth, some days are great, some I do have to work on to get additional protein. I also try to limit my carbs to 30 grams per day....somedays it works, other not but I still don't "carb-out".
You've done great, stay positive and focused....what a year it's been.

Hey, Kathleen! How tall are you? What is your BMI now? You've done really good!
My weight loss has slowed down, also. But I really have very little fat left, just on my tummy. I started at 298 and now I'm at 174. My surgeon considers me a success. My BMI is still not "normal", it's 28, which is so good compared to the 47 I started at! STill, I'd like normal! Which means another 20 pounds off, cuz I'm 5 ft 6 in.
I had several plastic surgery consults recently. I will be having surgery in the spring. All three of them estimated 15 pounds to come off my middle/lower body. They said skin weighs more than you realize.
As long as you are following the rules you'll get there! I think our bodies take a rest sometimes.
Hugs,
Susan

I have done well up until the past two months. In November I lost 3 pounds and DecemberI have only lost a pound. At my highest I was 286.5 and I am now at 159.5. I have lost a total of 127 pounds. I was hoping to get down to 140 but I really dont see it happening now. Has anyone else been going through this? My doctor had said to expect weight loss up to a year and a half out but I really dont see it happening anymore. Any ideas how to give it a boost? I make sure and get all the vitamins, proteins, water etc in. I do my exercises nightly. I wish they could just chop off my excess tummy skin and loose leg skin that would probably get me down to 140...HaHa. Thanks ahead for any ideas-Kathleen

Topic: RE: Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Hello to all, I don't post often here, but stop by and read once in a while. I feel at home on the "Over Fifty Forum" and spend a lot of time there. I do feel so mu*****ommon with you all and wish you the best in 2006. What a year of changes 2005 has brought to my life. First and foremost I've lost over 160 lbs. I still have a ways to go. My high was 377 I now weigh 216. By this time next year I hope to be at goal or close to it. If I never lose another lb I'm so much healthier and happier than I was at this time last year. I can walk 4.5 miles at one time with a smile on my face! I completed at 5K walk with my son! I can tie my shoes, wipe my rear (!), pull my car seat up close enough for my short legs, use the seat belt without an extension, sit in any booth or seat in a movie theatre or concert hall, fit through a turnstile. . . I could go on and on at the things that those who are not obese take for granted. This coming year I look forward to plane travel without worrying about crowding the person next to me. I have a lot of work yet to do, I'm working on rebuilding relationships in my life that need honest, open, hard work. I feel strong enough to do that now. I wish you all a joyous 2006. We deserve all the good that we can find in this life. Let's go out there and actively pursue it! Karen

Join the club!! LOL. I've had a on again off again cold for 2 months. My daughter keeps bringing it home from school. Take Tylenol products, they work for me. Tylenol seems to make something for every ailment. I like the Tylenol Flu. Careful with those pills thou, you might have to cut them cause they are kinda long. Good luck, and hope you get better soon.
