Hi Kim, Happy New Year to you too! ( Sorry took a while to post a reply). Yeah I know what you mean about falling into bad habits. I was eating almost 2 squares of dark chocolate a day about 2-3 weeks ago. I looooove dark chocolate but I don't want to fall into the habit of eating candy and that sort of stuff. So I've managed to wean myself off of it. See how long it lasts? Wow, so you are down to a size 4 & 5 that's great! Congrats! I also don't exercise and I'm not proud of it but I just don't like it. I'm going to try to get into it--that's one of my new year resolutions. There are also certain things that trigger hunger for me too. Like sitting here in front of the computer. Pre-Op I always snacked on something while I sat here reading posts or playing computer games. Now I usually have a glass or two of skim milk or sometimes an apple. I have a question for you...how come you are throwing up 2-3 times a week? I know I had problems with chicken but that was way early on. Well I hope you try to get your protein in & drink more water. It's for your own good young lady! Take care and keep on posting. Give us an update. Elisa

I know this will sound strange, but Marie, you may not be eating enough. If you're exercising 30 minutes a day, your body might be in starvation mode. That's happened to me. Try adding 300-400 EXTRA calories every 3rd day to trick your body. So eat normal 2 days, eat more a day, eat normal 2 days, eat more a day, and run in cycles like that. Try that for a few weeks and see what happens. What's your protein intake? Water intake? Are you keeping your carb count low? You should be at LEAST 100 protein if you're exercising and at LEAST 100 oz of water. Try to keep the carb count for the entire day under 75. I know that's a lot to keep track of. But, give it a try.

I have been using fitday.com religiously since just after surgery. I average between 900-1200 calories per day. My nutritionist says that sounds about right for someone one year post-op. She says that she'd like for me not to go over 1200 calories, if I could. I usually don't. Jen Halliday

I'm northern CA so have no advice at all except to tell you to post on the CA board. It's pretty active.

Hi Elisa! I use Fitday.com almost religiously except sometimes I slack off on the weekends. But I have averaging about 900-1200 depending but a day or two sometimes more. It just really depends.

I try to keep it under 1000, I have never asked my nut. In the begginning the phone nut told me I shouldnt be having to count my calories. She was down right rude. So I havent called and ask them nothing. I just try to keep it under 1000. Some days I dont make it. I also exercise every day. I walk 30 minuetes on the treadmill every day. I havent lost much in the last four months so dont know If you should listen to me. I think I have lost just to gain it back the first of the month I was at 208 now I am back up to 211. I cant figure it out. I just keep trying. Good luck lov marie

Topic: OT- California Traveling...
Hey all... It turns out that my husband may have to have surgery in (get this!) Beverly Hills, Ca. But since we are "East Coasters" and neither of us have ever been to California for more than 1 day, I was wondering if there is anyone who could give us some advice. My biggest concern is that while he will be in the hospital, I will be staying alone and traveling back and forth to the hospital and hotel alone. Can anyone make any recommendations or offer some advice ? I know that there are 'scarey' parts of the city and don't want to find myself in a hotel that I have to go to sleep with a baseball bat under my pillow but I know that I won't be able to afford to stay in Beverly Hills itself. Any info or suggestions would be sooo very appreciated. Thanks in advance ! -Terri
