Topic: IT'S MY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TODAY!!!! Thanks to Theresa Wagner, too
I have less than one glorious hour to finish celebrating my FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY with my new life!!! One year ago today I had Lap. RNY at Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak) and today I am down 142 lbs. Needlesss to say I feel much better, breathe better, am no longer considered diabetic, and have returned the CPAC machine for the sleep apnea. I actually enjoy the exercise at the gym and am a 'regular' now about 5-6 times/week. I want to thank so many 'cyber-friends' on this board that have (unknowingly) been very inspirational to me. I usually just lurk and gain insight, knowledge, and support in a quiet way. But TODAY I am beyond giddy with how great I feel!!!! I pray that this will last forever. I know I have made many life-style changes that I need to continue forever. I want to particularly thank Theresa Wagner who is a 'regular' and has often given great words of support to others (and me, even tho she and I have never "talked"). So........thanks to all for a GREAT RIDE OF A LIFETIME.........(about 21 lbs to goal).

Topic: Migraines
I am wondering if anyone has developed migraines due to the drastic amount of weight loss.
On January 17th I had an occular migraine (originating at eyes). I had never had a headache in my life like this. My husband had me rushed to the hospital and the doctors treated me as if I were having a stroke. I had a CT - was fine and then they tried to do a spinal tap to see if I had some sort of infection. The doctors had a very hard time tapping me because of all of the weight I have lost and the skin would set the needle off in the other direction. They poked me about 13 times (no exageration) finally they decided to do a tap under x-ray. FYI if you ever need a spinal tap ask for it to be done this way!!! I have been on complete bed rest with excruciating headaches for the last 2 weeks due to spinal fluid leakage from all of the pokes. I do not wish this upon anyone!!!!
Well after seeing MANY doctors my neurologist believes that I may have developed migraines because of the drastic change in weight. I had my surgery on 2/6/06 (260lbs) and currently weigh 135 today. I am wondering if anyone else has developed these.
I still believe that this was the best decision I made in my life.
