Topic: Last night - after a bad morning =P
I decided to have some Bear Creek Cheddar Broccoli soup last night with a scoop of Unjury in it. Never had it before.
Within 15 minutes I wanted to throw up, got the chills, and some pain. Ended up dry heaving and throwing up for 2 hours, more pain/chills, diarrhea.......Woke up this morning in a bunch of pain in the pouch area.
It's so hard to figure out if it's not settling or just too much too soon =(
Ugh - it's just so frustrating!

Thank you for your reply! =)
I really just hate feeling weak =P After not needing the pain meds for a couple days I just feel like being back at square one sometimes, ya know?
(Not to mention that my huby's sleep schedule is now off from mine so even though I REALLY want to rest/sleep, I CAN'T because I have to be awake with the kids!)

Hi Robbie =)
Surgery went like a breeze actually. I didn't have any complications. The only incision/area that gave me pain was right by my sternum. Doctor/nurses said it's because that's where the majority of the surgery was (obviously =P) and probably the largest instrument used (laparoscopically).
I did have a bunch of nausea that they controlled with phenergan and zofran. But I did spit up blood a few times. Dark, so I knew it was in the pouch from surgery.
I wasn't really in pain for too long. More like aching. I just took my pain meds when scheduled the first few days then as needed afterwards. I still have about half of them left. I was prescribed oxycodone. 70 tabs. Was instructed 1-3 (5-15mg) every three hours as needed. After learning from both of my c-sections from my kids, I religiously took them and then backed off a day or so after feeling better. There is NO reason to NOT take them those first days. My hubby was taking care of our kids so I was able to rest rest and rest some more =) Rest = SLEEP, LOL. Healing process does lots while you're asleep.
I think the majority of people don't have any problems. But one thing to keep in mind is how many people here are having gastric bypass done as their FIRST surgery? They don't really know what to expect. I've been in the hospital three times. 2 c-sections and then my gallbladder out laparoscopically. So I kind of knew what to expect.
Just be honest with the nurses. If you are in a 10 pain on a scale of 1-10 ~ TELL THEM. I had 2 extra doses of morphine straight into my IV in addition to the drip when I needed it. Plus a dose of Benadryl by the end of the second day because of severe itching.

I'm sorry for your rough time. I did use pain pills for at least 10 days so you should NOT feel bad about taking them when you need them. I think it does get better. I'm a tummy sleeper as well and the whole time I was in the hotels I couldn't sleep on my side or tummy. By the time I got home at 11 days, i was able to sleep okay on my side, now I sleep on my tummy with no troubles. So I just think it takes a little time.
Hope it happens fast!!

HI, This is Robbie congrats on having your surgery. Hope you are out of pain & feeling better soon, I have a couple of dumb questions to ask if you don't mind. Was surgery as bad as you thought it would be??? & is the pain & the all around sickness after wards as bad as you thought it would be ??I have seen on here where some people are very sick after wards & in A LOT of PAIN, & then there are others that say they have no pain or sickness this is the reason I have ask the question. I'm waiting on approval from my insurance, I just finished my supervised weight loss on Wed. just curious on the afters of surgery....THANKS, feel better soon!!!

I posted this on main board, too....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I was having a lot of trouble getting to sleep last night. Was awake most of the night.
I'm a stomach sleeper, so I kind of ended up on my stomach and did not have a pillow under like I have been doing.
Well.....
I got stuck like that.
I had to call my husband to come help roll me over. I just didn't have the strength and the pain tolerance to do it myself. Ended up taking 2 oxycodone (I haven't taken it in a week) and 2 Benadryl to help me sleep.
This after a crummy day of dry heaves and foamies. Can we say UGH???
I layed there in bed feeling like a total idiot as I was bawling my eyes out because of the pain.
Please tell me this will get better?
Topic: 2 week post-op (delayed, lol)
I went for my 2 week post-op on Monday. Was down 14lbs from surgery (though the scale at the doctors office is 3-4lbs more than ALL other scales I've been on)
I'm still on liquids, but added in cream of chicken soup, yogurt and melted ricotta. The warmth of the soup and leted cheese feels really good in my belly =)
I'm allowed to start flaky fish, cottage cheese, and other soft soft mushy foods next week.
I've been bad though and have had a mozarella cheese stick (cheese worms is what we call them, lol). Something to CHEW and I made sure it was real mushy going down.
NUT said I shouldn't be taking my b-complex vitamin and only 500 B-12. I have a 2500 and when they are done a 3000 I got from Vitalady.
Don't know whether to do what she says or keep what I've been doing. B's are water soluble and she said I was just making expensive pee.
What vitamins/supps are you guys taking??
