Topic: RE: Protein bars
I would think there are different kinds. Like the coconut Atkins one would be easy to digest early on. I don't know about the granola type/bread ones. So far I've found sugar alcohols get my tummy a rumbling so I'm too scared to try one, though I may buy some since you brought this up.

I hear ya. I haven't had a break down YET. I know it may happen so I just wait.
I hope you are feeling better now and I truly believe that when we are all skinny and healthy, we'll laugh about these times!! lol.

I have 1/2 to 1 bar a day and have been eating them for a while. My surgery was on April 6. I have to be careful they don't put me too far over calorie wise. I prefer the power crunch bars. They have one that tastes like those flakey sugar wafer cookies with peanut butter and chocolate for 200 calories and 13 grams of protein. I would suggest if you are going to try bars go to The Vitamin Shoppe and pick up an assortment to see what you like. I orderd my last shipment from them online and saved a fortune $6 a box compared to bariactriceating.com. I have tried several kinds and a lot of them have a funny texture or sit funny in my stomach. I think like shakes it is an individual thing. Watch the calorie count of them though I saw some bars that were over 300 calories.

Well, then I don't think its too too different. Really its regular food with a lot of sauce in the beginning. But at least I feel normal now, not like there's a ton of stuff I CAN'T eat. I just pick low carb stuff and I make sure I have sauce for my meat. Enjoy!!

Aww, Mandee - that sucks!! I know my first 3 weeks I was feeling pretty frustrated about not being able to JUST EAT WHAT I want - how fast I want and when I want. LOL.
Now I am happy to say that it doesn't bug me anymore. I even went to a chinese buffet and the sight of all the noodles and rice and all that fried breaded suff didnt' make me drool. I was really eyeing all the healthy stuff and I stuck with some shrimp and green beans and a tomato slice and cucumber slice. Eye on the prize....and remember that a year or so down the road we can eat somewhat normally again....just somewhat :) :)

Topic: RE: Poll: Did you/are you get your six week labs done?
I had labs not sure what at 2 weeks, then they took today which is 6 weeks, and I go back in six months. But in the mean time my PCP will be keeping up with some things as well. He took my lipid and all that this morning, so I am anxious to see where my cholesterol is.

you are not even close to being a nut!! ive had the same problem, but it gets better. i use to crave a double cheeseburger at mcdonalds even though i can barely eat anything due to all my issues with eating after surgery. there are times where i really wish i didnt have the surgery just so i could eat what ever, when ever. that too is getting better but i still have my moments where i think, man i just wish i could go back so i can eat what ever. its funny that i miss eating but i can't eat anything. i am even having troubles getting liquids in :( hang in there! we are all in this together! addictions are so hard to overcome!
