I had surgery on April 2 of 2010 and lost 30 pounds within the first three weeks.  After that I stayed at 30 pounds lost for another 3 weeks.  When I weighed this morning finally dropped again another 4 pounds.  I was pretty active over the weekend with housecleaning and I think that made the biggest difference for me.  I haven't started exercising too much yet because I still have an open incision.  One thing I decided to do is stop weighing every day.

I try to walk everyday, about 1.25 miles, but with New England weather being what it is, I have missed too many days. I am cold most of the time now and walking in the rain or 40 degree weather (which we suprisingly had a couple of recently) was not going to happen. So this weekend I joined a gym. Just doing the treadmill for now, but hoping when I have my followup on Weds, they give me the ok to do weight resistance.

I wasn't sure if we were suppose to have any carbs I had a 1/2 arnolds thin whole wheat for breakfast w/ peanut butter on it  and I did have apart of a low carb whole wheat tortilla with my fajita last night (only ate 1/4 of the toritilla and the insides of the fajhita)

Oh sweetie you are not alone. I had a few complications and I keep getting nauseas and having the same symtpoms. They put me on IV fluids for an afternoon for the dehydration and it helped. I found if I can ge****er going in first thing in the morning I have a better chance at drinking more but it's hard when even water makes you feel icky.

I ordered some protien that has 50 grams in 2.9 ounces because I am failing at the protein thing too. If I don't vomit, I get the stuck feeling, the foamies or just feel miserable.

I have conqueured the vitamins. VitaFusuion has adult gummy multi-vitamins and gummy calciums that are tasty. I was a failure at vitamins because the Centrum Chewies made me gag.

Make a list of even the tiniest things that improve. Yesterday I threw away two sizes of underwear and got all my vitamins down for 2 days. And I also was able to change from wearing mini-pads over my navel to wearing 2 cottonballs and a giant bandaid over my leak. I had not needed sanitary napkins since 1993 (LOL). I have been sleeping in bed for two weeks.

Get you some Tropical Sugar Free Popcycles. Many days I live on them. You eat them like crushed ice and you don't feel sick. Eddy's makes a fruit popcycle that has no sugar added and tastes great. I think our blood sugar gets low and the Eddy's brings it back up so we feel better. There are 25 calories in each.

So many people here have given me the strength to be patient. I would like to share that strength with you. Many have shared our agony and have also shared support. Give your hubby a big smile and look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you love yourself and you are going to be all better soon. You will be and me too! Yesterday I vomitted the anti-nausea med and if that aint some kind of joke I don't know what is.

Keep in touch with your doc. I am and I see them for the 5 th time in 5 weeks on Wednesday. They will check my blood count and my little belly button geyser.

Bye Sweetie, write me a PM and keep me up to date!

I ate at a resturant on Mothers day and I had 1 spoon of mashed potatoes and 1 spoon of dressing,I could not even eat all of it.I am like you one extra bite and the chest pain****I have dumped one time since surgery and I know what I did.Don't want to do that again.I am also having the problem with making my serving way to big.I guess that is something that we all will have to change...

Diana, I am trying to get exercise by walking but my biggest problem is that I don't have it as a habit yet. Last week, hubby and I went camping and did some great hikes that worked me out. I use the Wii at home sometimes. Thankfully, I am recovered from surgery almost 100%. If I had gone through everything that you have, I would be in the chair with the remote control for a while longer! Take care of yourself and heal.

My favorite food is one tablespoon of herb stuffing with 2 ounces of baked garlic chicken. I eat 2 ounces of dried oatmeal with silk (yummy) and for desert Tropical Sugar Free Popcycles (I have lived off of these many a days).

I didn't tell anyone about my WLS on my husbands side and everyone sent gift cards to restaurants for our annivarsary. I don't use them until I am better. Has anyone here eaten at a restaurant yet?

I also have one other problem. I will make my serving too big even though it is hard to get in two ounces. If I eat one bite too much I am so sick. I know why we are supposed to take 3 minutes between bites. It's so dummies like me don't eat too much.

I was warned here and at my support group about tastes changing. I have undergone two changes; one from pre-surgery and one from immediate post surgery. How are all of you doing on tastes?

Topic: Exercise "Are You Doing It?"

I am wondering how many of us April newbies are exercising. My exercises right now consists of getting housework done. This involves using the stairs, making the bed and stuff like that so I don't feel like I am really doing anything. I met with the nutritionist and exercises physiologist last Thurs. and they said I am doing fine with what I am doing but my mind and body want more but my health says no. Moving too much makes my leak sprout into a tiny geyser.

But today I promised myself I would sit on my ball and do some arm exercises. I will let you know tomorrow how it goes.

Our board has gotten a little slow hasn't it. Let's get it going again. Everyone think of a question, survey, recipe or something to share every few days. This board has always been my favorite. We are peers amongst peers and know each other better.
