I'm glad to hear your surgery went well.  I am scheduled for June 30th at U of I Hospital.  It will be my first surgery ever so I am a little nervous.

My surgery went good, was in a lot more pain then I expected but the staff @ Sinai were awesome & helped tons

I am in the worst pain ever. that is why they kept me an extra day. I just passed gas a few minutes ago for the first time & nothing has ever felt better. Any suggestions to help this along. I am using gas-x strips and walking a few minutes every hour.

I feel like I'm doing pretty well on my liquids.  I'm having SF jello, lots of water, protein shakes in either water or non-fat milk as well as broth.  I can also have yogurt but I don't care much for it but I will be trying it too.

I am meeting my protein goals and my clear liquid goals.  I'm a little light on the full liquid goals.  I feel pretty sloshy/full by the end of the day!

My surgery was Monday.  I came home 5 lbs heavier than I went in and now am 2lbs heavier so I think I'm doing ok for now!

I agree with the others. 10 ounces is far too much. When I was released, I was lucky if I could get two teaspoons of liquid in me.. I have a really good protein drink that I got in Michigan post-op. It tastes like a mocha.. If you need a change of flavor, let me know and I'll look on one of my bottles.. Can't remember the name off hand.

Call your dietician, they're very helpful. I'm two years out and feel great. I
still struggle now with getting in the 8 glasses of water a day that my doc wants me drinking..

Keep me posted and good luck..

I haven't noticed any taste changes.  The shakes were gross when I started, and remain disgusting.  I don't think of them as food, I think of them as medicine, and don't breathe through my nose for 10 minutes after I swallow them.  I still like water, just like I always did.  Actually, I got burned out on sugar substitute even before surgery, so I haven't tried the crystal light or jello.  My 10 year old brought me a popsicle yesterday, and I ate it, but didn't like the splenda aftertaste.  Water is by far the easiest thing to drink, and I'm getting plenty of that - over 48 ounces yesterday.  I also have some V8 Strawberry Banana Fusion light, which has enough flavor in it to knock out the sweetener.  I've tolerated that in 4 ounce quantities.  Plain old 1% milk is also tasty to me and easy to drink in 2-4 ounce amounts.  I'd have to say over half my liquids are plain water.

That's pretty good intake from where I stand.  I can only do 1/2 shake also at this point.  I guess I just need to be patient and continue to work on it.  Thanks.

Well if you can have success with the lap band more power to you that's what I say but it was a mistake for me for sure!

Congrats on the 20lb loss!!!!!  You must be so psyched.  When I first got back from the hospital I weighed more than when I went in but then all of the sudden it started dropping like crazy.  I don't know how long it will last.  Of course at home I weigh nekked but from surgery to today it's been 17 lbs but when I go to the surgeon's office my last weight there was less than the weight after surgery.  Does that all make sense, lol.  Anyway I don't care I'm thrilled as I never had these kind of results with the lap band.

I think I told you my daughter had it down a year last May and has dropped 150 lbs, it's slowed down a lot but that's normal but her whole life has changed for the better and that of course makes me happier than for me if you know what I mean.

Anyway keep me posted on how you're doing.  I'm on mushies but it's hard and I have no appetite but I'm trying.  Talk to you later, Nancy.

My surgery is the 29th too...I have been on the preop diet for about 3 weeks now and lost around 14 lbs.  Whenever I get discouraged i go look at the before and after pics..lol...perks me right up!   I had to have a psych eval for my insurance and was asked questions like..."do you beleive anyone is controlling your thoughts"  Anyone else have a horrible urge to answer, why yes I think the aliens made me fat and are forcing me to eat?!  Must be my inner smart butt come out..lol
