Topic: RE: Be Proud!!!
Hi Jane, I wholeheartedly agree with your comments. Sometimes I get stuck on the numbers and think " I have lost ONLY 93 pounds". Then I think of all the things I have done in the past year that I wasn't able to do a year ago. One of them being able to shop in the "regular" size depts. of the stores. Others are: being able to cross my legs, being able to bike 25 miles and not feel tired, training for a 10K race in the fall, fit into my teen daughters shirts, having people I haven't seen in awhile not recognize me,actually looking forward to getting on the scale at the doctor's office, weighing less than my drivers license says..just to list a few! We all have alot to be thankful for! Deb 250/157/almost there!

Topic: 9 month checkup
Hi fellow October members! I had my 9 month checkup last week and wanted to share my stats with others. - 4 inches off EACH upper arm - 13 inches from my waist - 14 inches from my hips - 93 pounds I have gone from a size 22 to a size 12 in jeans ( I can get into some 10's if I don't breath and don't go out in public...LOL) I have been more on the slow losing side but, I am still very pleased with my progress and I think because of the slower loss, I don't have problems with the excess skin and I didn't have any hair loss during this journey. I have tons of energy and I am also in the process of training for a 10K race in the fall. Would I do this all over agian...you betcha, I would!!! Deb 250/157/almost there!

I have not tryed Effexor, but I am on Lexapro. My pcp put me on it before my RNY, and it is working fine for me. The only side effect is I no longer want affection or sex. This makes it hard on my hubby. He said he would rather do with out sex all the time, than dealing with my PMS that I had twice a month. I hope this works for your depression. awesome Tanya!!! Isn't that the greatest feeling??? I felt so overwelmed by the idea of shopping at regular stores at first because I was so used to only having Lane Bryant as the best option for cute clothes. Now I'm way too small on top for their shirts tho I can still wear their size 14 bottoms. But now it's GREAT to shop at normal stores!! Enjoy all your new options!! You should be very proud, heck, i'm proud of ya!! Amy

Topic: RE: August Goals?
1) enjoy myself on the beach for the first week of August, and not go too far off my diet with my friends 2) join a regular gym as soon as I get back and get into some spinning and yoga/pilates classes! 3) attend said gym 5 times a week instead of the 2-3 times a week I'm doing now at the lame free "gym" at my apartment complex. No weight goals, just some lifestyle changes! Amy Lap RNY 10/22/03 5'9: 349/205/180???

Topic: Went to my dr....
I have been feeling a little light headed and dizzy sometimes and also can't concentrate. I flit around doing a little of everything but never seem to get anything done completely unless I have someone there pushing me. I went to my dr. last week and I told her how I'd been feeling and she asked me a few other questions and then gave me her diagnosis.... depression! Can you believe it? I asked her how could I be depressed? I've lost 81 lbs and all my co-morbidities are all but gone. But, she gave me a piece of paper and showed me all the symptoms and sure enough, I had almost every one of them. Go figure.. She said sometimes it's hard to deal with a new body image and gave me Effexor to try for a month and then I go back to see her. I just hope it doesn't have weight gain as a side-effect... that is what I'm most afraid of. If I gain weight, I'll be even more depressed! LOL I asked her about the hip-pain and the painful tailbone and she told me to back off on the walking and try some low-impact exercising such as bike riding or swimming to see if that will help. Just wondering if anyone else has taken Effexor for depression and how it worked. Thanks, Pam

Congrats Tanya! I know you are excited! I am into 18 pants and I am loving that. I can't wait to get into 16 or 14's. You're right, life is good... keep up the good work! Pam

I bet that's what you were doing in the dressing room!!! I know I'm for you!!!! I did the same thing when I put on my first size 6's! I generally wear 8's in Levis now, but actually have 1 pair of size 4's and boy do I feel so special when I wear them ( I know it's a lie - I can't possibly be a 4 in one pair of pants and rest are 6's and 8's!)
