Topic: RE: Going on month three post-op
Kimberly, Girl you are doing just fine. I have lost ONLY 52.5 lbs since the day of my surgery, but I love what I feel and look like now, knowing that I will feel and look even better in the months to come keeps me focused
. Don't get wrapped up in the numbers, instead look at the inches lost, or sizes, or the things that you can do now that you counld'nt do before WLS. Take a picture of yourself once a month and compare your progress that way. Watch the carbs, increase the protein and exercise, and most all enjoy living!!

I can't do any of the protien mixes. I get nausious just smelling them.
I am doing 2 miles a day to the "Walk Away The Pounds" tapes since I live in the middle of God's country in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. No where to walk this time of year. I think I am probably right on track with everyone else as I have lost 70 pounds since 10-9-03.

Hi Sabrina,
WOW!! 73 pounds!! That is a great loss! I had surgery on Oct. 1st and have lost 63 pounds. I was happy with that till I saw yours!! Anyway, if you are getting in at least 70 grams of protein, I wouldn't worry about the protein drinks. I too have not found one with really high protein amounts and low fat that tastes good, and I've spent a fortune trying them. I do like the Adkins chocolate shakes if they are REAL cold, but they have more fat grams than I prefer. According to my doc, you are doing all of the right things, with the vitamins, protein, B-12, etc. You just keep up the good work, you're doing fine!!

I am not exactly doing everything the way everyone else is. I don't drink protein shakes. They (meaning ALL of them and I have tried all that I could find) make me sick. I do get in a min. of 70 grams a day so I guess that is fine. I am down 73lbs in 10wks. I feel great! Lots of energy! I give myself b-12 injections once a month and take 4 chewable vitamins/day sometimes I forget but for the most part I remember. Also I take a small iron pill and 4 chewable cal. once a day. I can eat anything I try, nothing makes me sick. I don't get in a lot of veggies because I spend most of the time eating meat or things high in protein. I have noticed that I bruise VERY easy and other than that everything seems in order. My fat seems to be very, for lack of a better word, jiggly. Oh and I am walking several hours a week. I just want to check and see if anyone else isn't following the crowd exactly and may be exp the same as me...

Don't worry Jessica. My GYN told me to expect my period to do weird stuff. I got my period right after surgery 10/22/03 and then in 11/03 however I didn't get it at all in 12/03 and I'm not prego. My doctor explained that our body is going through major changes so just hang in there. I'm sure everything is O.K.

I'm 10 weeks post-op and I can definitely relate to what you saying. I keep thinking that this is not working. Sometimes I think our mind plays games on us. Just keep hanging in there. Eat slow and give yourself that chance to feel the fullness and drink, drink, drink (this is what I am told-LOL).

Thanks. I keep saying the same thing everyday. The year 2004 is going to be my year or as you put it our year. Open RNY-10/22/03. You have a great day.

Amber, are you drinking enough water???? Water always fills me up. Also, I think you might just want to try doing one shake in the morning and do some food protein like hamburger, chicken, tuna, egg salad, chicken nuggets with a salad. I have an Atkins shake in the morning for breakfast and the times I have gone and had another one for lunch I feel famished. I think those protein drinks burn quicker in our bodies than real food protein leaving us hungry alot quicker. This is just a guess on my part but I feel much fuller all day when I do one shake and 2 regular protein meals with some veggies or fruit. I wish you all the best in your journey. Don't get discouraged, stay focused on your goal and all the blessings to come from your accomplishments. Blessings to you!!!
