I am actually going to have time to exercise 4 days in a row. I walk 4 miles with my husband. It is such a good time because we get to talk uninterrupted. On Saturday I get to send my oldest son off to his junior year of college 2000 miles away. It doesn't get easier as he gets older. Another son is in his senior year in southern CA. He left last week. Boo Hoo. We still have 4 kids left, so I better get used to it, huh? It's just harder for me with the oldest son because he had WLS in December and is going through so many changes. They are all good ones. I'm rambling, so I'll stop. Karen 265/158/154

Hi Everybody! I had my Open RNY Surgery on October 1st, 2003. At that time, I weighed 362lbs. I have lost 155lbs. in 11 months! Never in my wildest dreams, did I ever thought that I would be thin and healthy. I have always been overweight. I eat three meals a day, and two snacks. Once in a while I eat something with too much sugar, but I pay for it! I love my life, and I love that I am in control of what I put into my mouth, now! I belong to Contours Express, which is a workout gym for women. I do weight resistance training, and a little aerobics, too. I only have 7 more pounds to lose, to reach my year goal. And, I have 45 more pounds to lose, to reach my ultimate goal! I'm very proud of what I have accomplished, this past year. We should all be proud of our courage to be healthy! I LOVE YOU GUYS! Your WL Buddy, Jane 362/207

Great question, Pamela! Winter Spice by Avon use to be my favorite scent, but I have just found a new perfume that is absolutely wonderful! It is called Dreams by Mary Kay. I won a gift bag of this scent that contained perfume, lotion, and a bottle of body wash. I love body lotions and sprays. Cucumber melon is a great scent, too! Can't wait for the next question! Hi all, I had my RNY on 10/24 and to date have lost 122 pounds. I went from 325 to 203 and size 32 to size 14. I still have about 50 pounds to go and then I will visit with a Plastic sergeon to help me rid myself of all of this excess skin and well as put the "girls" back up where they belong. I do not regreat for a moment my decision but that is not to say that once in a while I wish I could eat to my hearts content. Luckly for me that is a fleating thougt not really related to hunger but desire. Congrats to all of you! You all are doing just fab. And Pamela, thanks for starting this months roll call. I was not online yesterday much. Tanya -122

Thanks Pam, I really don't have a secret.......I did toning beds for about 6 Mo., now I do Pilates.....not as often as I should though. I eat what I think are about 6 oz. of food.......Consisting of some form of meat and usually a small baked potato and a veggie. I also snack on nuts, beef jerky, gold fish crackers, animal crackers, protein bars, SF fudge pops, spoonfull of low fat peanut butter and also low fat popcorn. Today I ate a peanut butter chewy......and never again......it was so good, but I felt like crap and felt like I needed to throw up! It was not a good thing! My weight has only come down 5 lbs. in 2 mo. so it is slow, but I have lost inches during that time. I often look at some of my friends at support group who weigh less than me and think OK.....what am I doing wrong....but, everyone loses at different rates. You also have to consider starting weights and height! My Doctors goal for me is 150. I would love to be 135, but I have to be realistic! I still haven't decided about a tummy tuck yet. It would be nice to have a flat tummy......but my health and quality of life are the things that really matter. Hang in there......you will make it!! LaDena

Hi Catherine... I'm glad you're back on the wagon, so to speak! I know what you men about feeling crappy. We had a pizza party here at work Tuesday and I ate one piece along with a salad and sopped that bread in the ranch dressing from the salad and I felt like crap that whole afternoon. That was more carbs then I had eaten in a long time. I am feeling poorly today, not sure what I ate to make me feel this way but I have been tired a lot lately too. I go for some blood work next week so hopefully something will show. Good Luck with the rest of your journey! Pam

I love perfumes, too! In the summer I like Calyx by Prescriptives. It's very light and summery. My winter scent is Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. I try to use the lotions, too, as it helps to layer the scent and my application lasts longer. Great QOTD! Catherine

I had my RNY on October 13, 2003. I was 332 lbs. at the time of surgery. I am 5'6" tall. I have lost 125 lbs., and currently weigh in at 207 lbs. Truthfully, I'm just now getting "back on track". I did really, really well the first 8 months post-op. Then, I decided to take a break. I started eating more often during the day and evening, and eating more high carb/high fat foods. I did that for almost 3 months. I actually gained back 5 lbs., as my lowest weight was 202 lbs. at the 8 month post-op mark. I have learned so much! I discovered I *can* eat sweets, but I really don't feel very well when I do so. I feel much better eating complex carbs in moderation and focusing on protein followed by veggies. I now eat three meals and three small snacks. My meals consist of about a cup to a cup and a quarter of food. I try to do mostly protein. One of my snacks is a protein shake. The other two are fruit or veggies or a protein bar. I drink plenty, and I do drink diet soda. It doesn't really bother me... though I am a bit gassy. No big deal. I would advise others to try to work their program as diligently as possible without stressing over it to the point of obsession. While I was "off track" I found myself feeling guilty again... feeling fat... feeling bad about myself. It was definitely NOT WORTH IT. I feel much better, in all ways, eating right and getting in some exercise. When I was grazing all day I didn't feel like doing much besides sleeping. I also found I dumped and threw-up much more often. Yuck! I am doing so much better now, and I don't wonder "what if I...?" I now know how people gain all of their weight back. I have resolved not to join them. Catherine Johnson
