Hi Laina. Losing 60 pounds still makes you a winner. Just think how much better off you are than you were last year. Now you need to set small goals of where you want to be next month. I set small goals for myself periodically. In early August it was to be able to fit into shorts (that were really snug) by Labor Day (when I was taking a vacation). Well, those shorts were loose on me on my vacation. I'm currently working on my next goal. I want to be under 200 when I see my surgeon on 12/6. I set this goal when I was 214 (about a month ago). I'm within a pound or two of being there. I feel that my goals must be realistically achievable (yet challenging) -- and in a time period that I won't lose interest. And short-term goals make me exercise more faithfully. I start my day with a protein shake and end my day with a protein shake. My meals consist mostly of protein. I do my best to avoid the whites (flour, sugar, rice, pasta, and potatoes). These are occasional indulgences -- not daily food. I try to limit carbs. And I'm faithful to my vitamins. I do occasionally struggle with head hunger. But I can't honestly say that I've been physically hungry since sugery -- and that's a blessing. I (and my surgeon) attribute this to the higher amount of protein in my diet. I don't think anyone can inspire you -- that's something you have to do within yourself. You have to want to be healthier more than you want food. For 49 years food was my best friend (and my worst enemy). I had to choose: 1- keep my best friend and the pain that I had OR 2- give up food and the pain that was keeping me a prisoner in my own body. It took me 2 years to make that decision. That's pretty sad. But now I know just how strong a hold the addiction had on me. Some days I still have to fight it, but so far I'm winning -- and that's what counts. When and if I start to lose the fight, I already have a psychologist picked out to see. He specializes with obesity issues. He's spoken to our support group several times and I believe that he truly understands. Look at your life and find that inspiration. As you achieve small goals, your faith and self-confidence in yourself will grow. And that's a wonderful feeling. I challenge you to find it for yourself! Deb

I find that when I need to get back on track, I "reset" myself. Go back to my diet as a fresh post op. I go back to just clear liquids for 3-4 days, then slowly advance from there, just as if I were just starting out. I not sure which it helps more, my mindset or my body, but it seems to work.

I am going to see my doctor for a referral to the plastic surgeon on Dec 3rd so say a pray that I qualify and that I am able to have the plastic work done that I would like done. Don't be so down on yourself. 156 lbs in one year is a huge acomplishment and I am sure others see the difference!!!!! I have gone from a size 24 to a 5 and still don't see a change but others make it a point to tell me they do. Be proud of yourself and all you have acheved over the last year!!!!!!!!! Melissa

I am the last person to judge anothers relationship but if you read your own post I think you will see all of the answers you are looking for. I had a conversation a few months ago about this very issue with my DR. and he has seen several relationships fall apart after wls. As overweight people we tend to be codependant and put up with things we should not because we don't think we can do any better. Now that you have shed the weight you may be seeing that you deserve much more than you are receving. I would never tell you to leave your mate but you need to take a long hard look at weather or not this is the way you want to spen the rest of your life. Best of luck!!!! Melissa

Hello to all my WLS people, this month made my one year anniversary and I ahve lost 156 pounds....hooorah!!!!!!!!. Although 156 pounds sound like alot I still have another another 150 pounds to go to get to my goal weight. I started out at 500 pounds and really dont look that much diffrent to myself because my body shape has not changed that much. If I had of put more exercise in I am sure my weight loss would have been a complete sucess bu now. Those of you who have had recent surgery please please exercise all you can it makes a big difference. yes you will loose some weight just off the surgery alone but you could loose twice as much with just a bit of exercise. All of my WLS surgery people who have their anniversary this year congradulation....from the botton of my heart and be good this thanksgiving. Much love Glynda
