I LOVE Dr. Pepper... I have cut back to 1 a day...this week starts NO soda and just green tea. The caffeine headaches have been the WORST!
How long did you stay in the hospital? How long did it take to get your surgery date after approval? How long before you ate solids after surgery?

Hi!

I am acually adjusting real well.. I have been taking my vitamins everyday.. except when I am away from home.. for some reason when I am home I take them on time everytime.. when I am away.. I forget them. The protein for me has been a problem. I can not stand  the smell, taste or anything about the drinks. While I was on my two week pre-op I forced them down.. I also found a Special K protein shake at walmart, that was decent and I could manage it. The problem with it was wayy to much sugar.. 26 grams I think. So mainly for me.... and even now I made the fortied milk, they give you a recipe for it after you are approved, but if you want I can send it to you. It's basically fat-free or 1 or 2% milk, powdered milk and carnation instant breakfast... anyways I drink that. I know I am not getting the 70 grams of protien they require but I am getting as much as I can. I feel great.

As for the adjusting part, when I first started this journey I was drinking 4-8 cans of Dr Pepper a day.. and eating as many sweets as I wanted. I NEVER drank water.. now.. I drink NO Dr Pepper, and no sweets.. I read all labels.. They have some great sugar free puddings. I have no craving for Dr Pepper or sweets.. it may be a mind thing.. just knowing I can't have them.. it may be my body. I dunno.. I walk 2-3 times a day, 35-45 minutes each time. I have never done that before. I drink lots of water.. I never thought I'd drink water. If you want to know anything else.. just let me know.

Hi Stephanie....
I met with Dr. Juarez last month and am just waiting for approval from my insurance. How are you adjusting? Taking all the vitamins and drinking the protein? I am a little nervous..any advise would be great!

Hi Joyce!

Yes...  Gall Bladder was "popped" during the removal, all that great stuff all over my belly to cause a large amount of pain!  It was great and back in August 2007!

Anyway, life is good... getting married on the 24th!  Big wedding, big fun... can't wait until it's OVER!!!  :)

Other than that... hanging in there.  Need to get back on track, enjoying life, my tool doesn't seem to be working at all anymore.  Having some major B-12 issues and taking shots regularly.  FUN!

Off to work!

Gina,

It's been forever since I have been on...  but there used to be a woman at SBC, she did my gallbladder removal and screwed it up, popped it pretty much... pain was horrible!  Blackstone had to fix her mistake.  Forgot her name... I am sure it will come to me.

I meet with Chananos (spelling) back in January with some concerns I have.

I had another EGD today so missed support group again...anything new to report??
What's up with your EGD?  Dr. P still stretching you out a bit?

....Support group was GREAT!  Very entertaining this time  Our Miss Donna had some funzy news but I'll let it trickle down with her efforts!!!

The room was packed and we had a visiting newbie from Alaska!  Many who live up there MUST go to a Banner hospital for surgery and AZ is their best option!  So, Alaska comes on down for some magic with Dr. Podkamini and Dr. Schuster!

We talked about "getting back to basics" and weight loss/maintenance for the lifetime effort!  Some newbies had no idea that we all eventually have to WORK our tools and make good healthy choices!  There were a ton of lapbanders who had lost well beyond the usual stats and almost as fast as Rny's!  Kudos to them!

Our groups very own Cathy is going to be in the fashion show at Phx St Luke's on Saturday.  Many from the group were going to attend!  (are you coming?)

Donna reported that the exercise phisologist would be changing her format for her support gruop to include half time message/support and half time working out!  ....  She reminded us that Dr. Goodhall's support group this month would have the guest speaker who specializes in SEX therapy....speaking on "Intimacy following WLS"!  ALL are invited and it's FREE!

So, that's the support report!

My hubby reported a good group at the AZ Grads support group as well.  They talked about how they could "pay it forward" and also get their own support needs met!

I hope you're doing better sweetie pie!  See you Saturday!
