Hi Barbara!
Dr. Juarez does revisions but NOONE in Arizona revises to a Duodenal Switch.
You can get more information about the Duodenal Switch (also known as the DS) at the DS forum on Obesity Help
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/
or on the website: www.dsfacts.com (up to date list of the BEST DS surgeon's in the world)
and
www.duodenalswitch.com
You may also get a lot of support and information on the Revision Forum of Obesity Help. The link for that is:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/revision/
How about attending the Az Graduates support group at Bridges St Luke's on Tuesday April 6th? It's for EVERYONE from any program with any type of surgery. 5:30 pm at the Bridges Education Centre at Phoenix St Luke's.
I have you down for the June 5th Super Saturday Seminar. Did you want to attend the Bridges Graduate Seminar on the 10th of April also? You would probably get some answers and ideas at both seminars.
Good luck friend! Many of us need a 2nd chance at getting our weight off!

Topic: I just got approved!!

I am so excited to finally be approved for GB surgery!! Tuesday I go in for my pre-op tests (upper GI, EKG, ultrasound, sonogram). I am hoping to get my clearance for surgery by the end of the week. I am so exited but a little nervous too.

Topic: RE: WEDNESDAY MORNING SUPPORT GROUP
I will be moving to Sun City West near mid to late May and will need to connect up with aftercare support. I will know hardly anyone in the area and I know no one who has had WLS. Pretty nervous about that! Jean

Note: The Event with O.H. on July 31st has been CANCELLED.
And an invitation from the TriCity (Prescott Support Group to all of us!)
Mark your calendars!! Hold the date - April 22 (regular meeting night, regular meeting time)
We are planning a special group event - "Celebrate Success, Feed the Families".
Sometimes we forget how much weight we have really lost, how much healthier we are, so -It's time to celebrate our accomplishments and we plan to do so with a party and potluck. It's all about having fun! Bring your spouse/family/support person - invite others who have had the surgery or are thinking about it, encourage inactive group members to come celebrate with us.
One way you might think about doing this is to bring food to donate to the local food bank in the amount of weight you have lost, i.e. 40 pounds lost, 40 pounds of food. The idea is to make it a fun and challenging thing to do. If you want to participate, plan to scour the grocery adds for sales - see what you can get for the lowest expense OR enlist the help of friends and neighbors to help collect the pounds you need OR contact local retailers to donate food items - again in the amount of weight you have lost. Start planning now - so you can have your food collected in time for the party.
Another would be to participate by bringing a potluck item to share. Remember that we all have small tummies so think small dishes but high in protein. Be creative - have fun with it. Better yet, bring your recipe to share with others as well.
Here's the plan of activities leading up to our "BIG" celebration!!!
April 1 - Plan, promote, invite. Let's get some of our inactive group members involved.
April 15 - Food donation ideas. Do your research and bring your ideas to share at the meeting. Look for inexpensive items you can purchase for the food bank. Be creative! What can we get for twenty five cents per pound? 10 cents? 5 cents? You'll be amazed what we can come up with. Let's see who can come up with the most creative ideas. Can you come up with food items for 10 cents? That's 100 lbs for $10!!!
April 8 - Protein! Protein! Protein! - Bring your recipe conversion ideas to share.
April 22 - Potluck Party Bring your food bank donations, participate in 'This used to be me' pictures, bring potluck item to share.
*The value of all items donated to the food bank is being matched by another organization. Let's support our local community and celebrate our success.
