Topic: RE: Newbie-self pay- gastric sleeve..
Thank you for the info.  I do have sleep apnea and can't tolerate the cpap and have painful joints and fatigue that prevent me from working out as hard as I would need to to get this weight off.

I still need to research how much you can eat with the gastric sleeve down the road after recovery.

Do people ever have issues with low blood sugar after wls?  Thanks

Celeste, I can tell you that as some point some of the calorie malabsorption will slow down.  I'm a little further out than you and I had to make some changes and drop some of the carbs I had picked up along the way to maintain my loss and not gain.

I did a fast walk Monday night of 2.5 miles, but that has been it for this week.  We are giving my Mom a surprise 80th birthday party this weekend so I've been trying to get caught up and a little ahead at work so I can be off Friday.  I've got to start hitting it hard next week and come up with a plan!!

Topic: Vitalady Tour Update---Dates

Atlanta area:
For those interested in meeting Michelle (Vitalady) and Don (Vitaguy), they will be in Marietta June 2-4. More details to follow once there is clarification from Don regarding an exact meet and greet date.

For south Georgia:
The Vitacouple will be in Valdosta on June 5th and Savannah on June 20th after a tour of Florida.

Previous Post (Feb 14, 2011):

Vitalday (Michelle) and her husband Vitaguy (Don) are planning to tour the country from their home state of Washington (near the Seattle area) down to Florida, and anywhere in between. They are in the route planning stage at this point, and Vitatour 2011 is expected to be in May. They will stop at any city along the way where there is interest. The meeting can be as simple as a restaurant dinner or a more elaborate protein tasting or health seminar.

Dinner would be the cost of your meal. For the protein tasting or health seminar, they require a minimum number of participants, and a $5.00 donation per person is requested.

This would be a great way to meet the Vitacouple live and in person. They have been an invaluable resource to many of us in the WLS community and are willing to travel at their own expense to meet us!

Anyone interested in an Atlanta-area meet and greet for Michelle and Don? Let's show them some southern hospitality!

Dr Hart also does a lot of VSG procedures. I know a number of people that have used him and have nothing but good things to say.

I also agree that if your a straddling the BMI borderline that you look and see if this is a step you really need to take as opposed to being the only thing you can do.  If you have a lot of comorbidities then obviously it is an easy answer but this major surgery.

Wow, Celeste. Congrats on losing the weight. However, that is really low. I agree with LaShelle, protein shakes are a good way to get in extra calories. Maybe drink them with your meals? Don't want to see you shopping in the children's section.

I'd  consider going depending on the activities.

You know I am always game for a road trip.  I am headed back to the Bahamas in a few weeks LOL.

I think I just need to invest in a vacation home somewhere.

I am baking a pan of brownies and shipping them right over.

Time to stop losing girlfriend!  PERIOD!

Less than 120 is getting a little on the too low side, though it's your body and a personal choice. Just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Maybe consider upping your protein shakes for the day if you can't get enough solid food to get your calorie intake in.

What does the doctor think?

Another point to consider is Dr. Smith does tons of DS surgeries.  This is the same as the sleeve with the added malabsorption.

DS surgeons are the most highly skilled in the wls community!

I am surprised Smith is less expensive than Williams, since Smith is a more skilled surgeon. I would imagine his schedule is also busier.

If you are wanting someone who does a lot of vsg, I would consider Dr. Macik as well. He has many happy patients on here.

OK, on a side note...  I know you don't want to hear this but....

You have a very low bmi. Are you 100% sure you wnat to have surgery?  Have you tried absolutely EVERYTHING to do it on your own?

Surgery is NOT an easy way to lose weight.

I know we SMO folks tend to roll our eyes at you skinny  minnies going under the knife  :-), but seriously, wls is not fun :-(
