mary68, thank you so much for your message. Congrats on your surgery!
How are you doing? I hope you're doing well and recovering nicely. I do feel like pulling my hair out. I'm sure you can imagine!!
I wish I had Heather's e-mail address from Dr. E's office. I only have her number, and as of today, she never called me back. They tell you to wait, but if I left it up to them, I'd wait and wait and wait!!! I can't wait until this is all behind me!!

Topic: RE: Open Revison RNY
I had an open RNY in Dec 2002 with Dr Huse. I personally don't care for him, but he is a qualified surgeon. He does not have much of a bed side manor. I had a revision in August 2010 with Dr Ditslear and was very happy. I had to have a revision because I had a section of bowel that was not functioning properly. Mine was able to be done laparoscopic without any problems. I was told it was an outpatient procedure but had to stay five days because of previous leaks and a low iron count. I have been able to lose 20 pounds since then also. The weight loss is a lot slower in my opinion the second time around.
I wish you the best and hope this counts.

Thank you for your message.
Heather is the one who will be scheduling my surgery too. I called her yesterday to make sure that she has my file, but of course, I only spoke to her voicemail!! I hate not getting to speak to a live person!! If you have any luck getting ahold of Heather, please let me know how you went about it. Everytime I call the office, I always get voicemails. It's been that way since October of last year. Grrr.... lol
Thank you for your message.

Topic: Open Revison RNY
Hi All!
My first post on this site and I'm glad I've found this "place".
I had an open GB RNY in May 2003 starting at 320 lbs. My lowest was 190 and I am now 260. I've gained most of my weight within the past year as I had some emotional eating issues I was dealing with. I have a date for a revision surgery March 3rd with Dr. John Huse.
I have a few questions for anyone who can help:
- Has anyone ever had Dr. Huse as a surgeon? Thoughts?
- Has anyone ever had a revision?
- Since my original surgery was open, I am now told I HAVE to have an open revision. I REALLY would like a laparoscopic because of the low risk, but wanted to know if anyone has had the same issue?
- Thoughts on recovery time of a revision?
Thanks so much!
Leigh

Topic: RE: Has anyone used Turkle & Associates
Hi! I went to Turkle and Assoc. 4 years ago for a tummy tuck and they were great. They know what they're doing and I would recommend them to anyone needing a procedure of that nature. :)
Topic: RE: Clarian North Pre-op Testing = A+++
I loved Clarian and would recommend it to everyone. Thier program is so complete and the followup is great. Goodluck.

Congrats on the approval!
I'm basically at the same step as you are. I too just received insurance approval the 7th and am waiting word from the surgery scheduler. Probably that's who this Sholanda is for you. My doctor who is in the same surgeon's group as yours, has a surgery scheduler who is Heather. She coordinates the rest of the preop requirements and dates. Well I have given them two weeks now for Tanya to forward approval to scheduling office and no word yet, so I will try to contact them this week to secure a surgery date! From the info pack you get from the first consult, you can only call and schedule preop class once you get your surgery date.

I'm one of Dr.Inman's DS(duodenal switch) patients, who went through St. Vincent's. As good as the St. Vincent's program is, it is *not* true that you can go to any seminar and learn about *all* of the surgeries available.
I knew I wanted the DS, but was about to settle for the RNY, because the doctor whose seminar I went to did not perform the DS.
The different doctors seminars will only talk about the surgeries they perform, at least this was my experience. I was told that if I wanted the DS, I had to go to Dr. Inman's seminar. I did, cancelled my RNY, and had to wait 6 more months to get my DS, but it was, and still is worth the wait.
If you're pre-op or revision, make SURE you educate yourself. Don't depend on the surgeons or programs to tell you *everything*. They often do not!
