I had a non-band related surgery last Wednesday and had a really bad reaction to the anestesia.  My blood pressure went NUTS, my normal is about 107/70 when they sent me home it was still 195/107!!  I was only home for about an hour when I started to feel REALLY sick.  I was dizzy and my belly felt terrible and I had to go back to the ER.  I dry heaved for about an hour and they finally got me back to normal with a full bag of zofran and phenergan and some pain killers.  I slept all day the next day.  Friday I had no trouble eating and drinking normally.  Same with Sat and Sunday.  Then came yesterday.  I started off fine.  Then at lunch I got stuck and slimed and PB'd on a piece of chicken.  I did liquids for the rest of the day, no problem.  Then this morning I had my coffee no problem.  Then came lunch time and I got stuck again and slimed and PB'd.  Back to liquids, but what the heck?!?!  I'm HUNGRY, lol, and to make it worse I'm hosting a dinner party tonight and won't even be able to eat.  Ugggh!!  I'm frustrated!!

So sorry to hear that you are having a hard time with your band but thank god you are ok from the other surgery!!!! The band issue seems minor compared to what you've just been through. Give it a little time maybe your body is still stressed from the surgery??? Have you called your doctor?

Kari,

I'm so sorry to hear you've had this trouble.  Maybe the anesthesia and IV liquids affected your restriction?  I haven't heard of that before, but I think it's possible.

Hope you feel better soon...

Jean

I notice you posted that you only did liquids for the rest of yesterday, I found that I have to do liquids for a full 24 hours then 24 hours of mushies before I go back to solids....with good restriction, of course.  I think I would stay on liquids longer this time and wait it out before doing solids, and then make sure you pick "easy" ones.

Even non bandsters are usually on liquids 24 hours post surgical can anesthesia is a marvelous mix of medicine and art. Be gentle with yourself.  Focus on protein.  Have a joyful dinner party and enjoy your guests.  If you start licking people probably time for a protein snack   Hope you are felling better quickly.
