Hi Everyone. I am new to the OH community, although I have read articles and Forum postings for years. Tonight was the first time that I signed up... I am also new to the LapBand community. Started a blog to get my thoughts out of my head and down in writing... http://lizwithalapband.blogspot.com
Just wanted to say hello and see if there are any other NEWBIES out there that would like someone to talk to about all of the strange things that we are going thru....
I still can't believe it and I still look for her posts! It is indeed devastating and so unneccesary, if she had just gone to the hospital or called paramedics she probably could have been saved. She will truly be missed by so many people. There is a memorial page and address on the main forum if you would like to write something. She was a wonderful lady!!
OMG I'm so distraught about this. I remember Kate when I first came to OH searching for "answers" to my questions about the band like in 2006. Wow a true loss to the community.
Congratulations on your success and plastics. Sorry to hear about your loss...

Hello Karen!
I had the band out last Wednesday. I wasn't able to get a revision as I mentioned before. I knew I'd be on clear liquids a day and thought the doc had said bariatric liquids for 3 days but instead when I came home it was with instructions for full liquids for 2 weeks! I didn't get to see the doc before leaving the hospital. I've been trying to follow those instructions but it's been so hard. I'm so blazing hungry. Problem is I'm not sure why he said nothing but liquids for 2 weeks. I'm not sure if maybe something was wrong or it is just precautionary. I go back next week and I'll ask then. I then mean time.... it's been a struggle because I'm hungry and I guess I was looking forward to eating without puking finally!
As far as the surgery, it was out patient - the bloating isn't as bad as the original band. I have 5 BIG fist size black and blue bruises underneath the incisions so I'm sore. It's not awful and I only took the pain pills (liquid) the day of surgery. I was able to walk the next morning, went 2.5 miles! Walked almost 8 miles over the following few days but now it'**** 100+ and I'm not walking outside. I'm down 12 pounds in a week! Surgery was Wednesday, I went back to work Monday... no problems except for hunger.
What have you decided?

Dejah is correct they will often cover a pannilectomy but rarely a full tummy tuck. Some surgeons will work with you and others not so much. You may want to check the plastic surgery forum here for more advice.
The only way to find out for sure is to see your surgeon and yeah I know all about self pay been there done that! It sounds like a leak but could also be erosion only a doc can tell you that. You have had your band nearly 10 yrs and few keep them that long so I am not surprised you are having issues. Please see a surgeon as soon as you can.
