Topic: RE: Clothing issues or have I become....
Oh I hear ya on this. What I find interesting is that I'm paying more attention to what other people are wearing and find it appalling! Since when has the muffin top become something to flaunt? Yikes. Yet apparently that's the "style"--skin tight. It's kind of challenging to find tops that fit the form, but don't cling like a second skin to every lump and roll of flappy flesh.
As for the bras.... I found an excellent site that carries unusual sizes: biggerbras.com I was overwhelmed with the selection, considering that I've been looking all over to find a size 30FF. I ordered from them 3 days ago, and my order arrived today. The only drawback is that if what you ordered doesn't fit, you can't just return them--you have to exchange.

Snooty?
Greetings!
I know in the past I have posted about some clothing issues. It was bras, if memory serves me correctly.
Today is a tad bit different. I was reviewing the before and after pictures of members on OH. I often go there just to remember how far this surgery allows us to come, if we work our tool right.
The thing I find about looking at the pictures is that, most peoples choices in clothing -changes. In others not so much. I know once we lose weight the venue of clothing choices expands beyond belief, this is a grand thing!
For me as the choices opened up and I started replacing items, the one item style I no longer wanted in my closet was the baggy shirts. What was out there? lots of shirts that looked like maternity wear! I did NOT want those kinds of clothes. I wanted things that were more form fitting.
I know for some people, extra skin is the issue and we have to allow for that issue. The one thing I am wondering is, do others feel this same way? We were trapped in baggy clothes to "cover" us up, what is your style like now?
My number one issue is still bras! We need to find go support for the girls/what is left of them. Make those puppies stand up! don't let then hang like flower baskets!
Ok, that is my take on this issue, looking forward to hearing others comments.

Hi Dyanna--
Thanks so much! That's helpful....I sent in my appeal letter in last week, but haven't heard back yet. I'm so hopeful, but am trying not to get excited. I included much of the same type of information as you did, so at least I feel like maybe I included the right things in my letter!
I'm so happy for you and am hopeful I will have the same luck!
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!! And thanks again for the insight!

Hi Amanda, I just pm'd you a copy of my appeal letter. This has been a difficult decision for me in terms of having any kind of surgery at all. But after extensive research, Lap Band is what I felt most comofrtable with. I also had to really look deep inside to look at all sides of this for me. I decided that if I was to have this surgery, God, Love and my angels were going to have to clearly show me that this was what I needed. I thought about talking to my PCP again (but truth is I reallly do not have one that knows me well). And I decided I would be my own best advocate. Also writing the letter helped me see things VERY clearly! So in the end, I am glad that it took as long as it did and glad I chose to write my own letter. Good luck with yours my dear and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions etc.
Dyanna
p.s. My BMI for the past 3 years has been between 35-39 and the only medication I take is an antidepressant. I sent my letter on Monday and the decision was make by Wed! and I feel SUCH peace about it. It is right for me at this point in time.

Hey Dyanna!
I think I remember reading that you had been denied by BCBS ND, right? Did you get your appeal approved!?!?! If so, CONGRATS!! That's great news (and could you just give me an idea of what you included in your appeal?)
I haven't been banded, but congrats on your approval!
