Has Anyone Blacked Out After Standing Up?
In a previous post this week I mentioned the possibility of a link between salt cravings and low blood pressure due to feeling dizzy every time I stood up.
This morning I got out of bed and by the time I got to my bedroom door I was feeling dizzy so I did what I always do. I stood and waited for it to pass only today it went just a little bit further than that. The next thing I knew I was on the floor with dad standing over me asking what happened. I blacked out!
I will definitely try to get in to see my doc this week but was wondering if anyone has experienced this since WLS?
Thanks,
Sue (with a bruised knee)

I strongly suspect this is my issue as well. It only happens when I stand up.
Thanks!

I had similar experiences shortly after surgery- found that my BP was too low. Off meds- it sorted. It could be something simple- Middle ear viral infection, low sodium. Get checked asap.

Definitely going. Based on Cushiebunny's response below I'm also going to monitor when it happens vs when I ate last as well.
Thank you!
Thank you!

This has happened to me a few times. One time it was from low potassium and I ended up on k-lyte for months to bring potassium up and it never happened again.
The other two times it happened, it was almost like vertigo and I saw an internist. She figured it was an inner ear thing as we actually do have rock in our heads, little sand like things in the ears and I had to do these exercises to try and get them back to where they belong. Hasn't happened since. Wish I could remember what she called this but the exercises did it for me. She did all kinds of other tests first to make sure it wasn't something more serious but when everything else was normal, she pinned it down to this.

The dizzies I had back in March sounded more like the rocks in the head thingy because it was random. This time it only happens when I stand up so it seems more BP related, but I'll go see my doc. Gosh I haven't seen her in forever! She'll be shocked! lol
Thanks Tracey!

Mine would happen when I would stand as well so we thought it was BP related but it wasn't at all. This is what mine was called, just found the paper. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. Sometimes even moving my head too fast to the right or left would make me dizzy. I hate that feeling, I hope you can get some answers soon.
Interesting! Thanks Tracey!

My friend was diagnosed with having vertigo due to ear crystals and did the exercises as well - I *think* it's called Empy or Epley exercises? He did it in the doctor's office and thought it was a bunch of bunk - that is, until it cured it for him.
