They did say at the orientation I went to this week that may patients become lactose intolerant after the surgery.  I buy the almond milk at Costco...it's excellent.

I'll have to try the almond milk - I've wondered how it tastes.  Is it similar to regular milk at all?

Keep in mind that almond milk does not have a huge amount of protein in it....you may have to adjust other things to compensate.   Good luck Laura!!

It could be too much, are you 4-5 wks?
At about 6 weeks I went to about 1/4 cup in serving.

I think if it was lactose intolerance than you would have had it before now. But keep an eye I would suggest that you try just a littl ebit of milk tomorrow and see if you get mild symptoms then you will know better.

Good Luck!

Thanks!  I've been having 1/4 - 1/3 cup for the past 2 weeks actually.  Needed to get the bran in to keep things moving and it's worked really well for me up until today!  I will definitely be nervous tomorrow when I try it again!  I will keep the lactose intolerance thing in mind too.  I was always kind of sensitive to milk, but have always been ok if it was mixed with something like cereal, etc.  Maybe not anymore?  Who knows!

Thanks!

Hi,

I was told bran flakes were very bad for me as a diabetic, should alsways have bran budsm the flakes have too much sugar for those of us who are sensitive.

LOL.. I like that!  I liked Chucky for the stabbing pains and the upchucking (which I actually thought would happen a lot, but hasn't happened yet!  LOL)
