Hi Tracey,

Good to know!

I was just talking to my dr's nurse on facebook (happens to be a friend of mine) and she told me to call her if I have any trouble finding out where my referral went.  I will try Sudbury first and then call the registry to see if they can tell me anything.

This sounds exactly like what I wrote 2 years ago!  I too am the kind of person that once I have made my decision  then I am ready.  What I discovered though Is that the waiting wasn't necessarily a bad thing.  I was able to work on myself more and prepare myself mentally' physically and even spiritually for the surgery.  I learned as much as I could, I began changing my lifestyle by exercising more, attended church more often, and even joined a choir.  I started to add balance to my life, because up until then, it was work, work, work.  I also put other people's needs above mine.  Now I concentrate on me.  I started to stick up for myself more, and all of this balance stuff really worked.  You have to remember that the process is more important than the product, because it is through the process that for my anyway, I was able to learn about myself a lot more.  Best of luck, I do feel your pain, because it is a long wait, but you will get there.

I was referred to Hamilton and will be having the surgery there as well.  I can tell you, I have had a very hard time getting the process moving.  I follow up EVERY SINGLE TIME, on everything.  I went to the orientation in October, called  the next day to tell them I was interested.  Called 4 more times before Xmas and they said I wasn't on the list, put me on the list and will mail me appt times, never happened. Called again - no idea who I was.  Called when I didn't receive anything in the mail.  Called again - was told I missed 2 appts in December that I didn't know about!  They were putting me in the system again!  But - now I have appts finally on Feb 1, wonder how much faster it would have been if the administrative team was on board?

Hang in there - record everything and don't take no for an answer!

Good Luck!

The waiting time is actually beneficial to be able to come to terms with the changes that will happen.  18 months sounds about right.  From Orientation out it should be just over a year.  Not nearly as long as it seems.  I also am like you and when I make a decision wnat it to happen.  However, the wait has helped me to put things into perspective and deal emotionally and mentally with things that have ocured to me regarding what my life will be like.  Stick it out it will be worth it...and come here often the people are great and very supportive.
