I Love Him - but he is an asshole!

Vasectomies are far less invasive and serious surgery. Tubal ligations can also come with side effects and vasectomies pretty much don't.
Not to mention that women so often have to shoulder most of the burden when it comes to birth control in our society.
My line in the sand would be: you get a vasectomy, or you buy and use condoms, both of which have no real side effects. Especially if I had been using IUDs and birth control pills up to that point, both of which can have side effects.

I also had a difficult mirena insertion, it was much worse than I anticipated and I'm sure I frightened a few people in the waiting room. While not as bad as yours, I feel your pain. Personally, I think he should serve probation on the couch for a couple of weeks and the suggestion of condoms or vasectomy sounds about right to me!
OMG I would kick his ass myself if I knew him (or where he was). The same thing happened to me...back when I still had a uterus. Honestly, MEN JUST DON'T GET IT...

I'm glad things worked out - sometimes guys are clueless about what to say to us!
That said, I would still consider giving him the choice between a vasectomy or condoms, just in general, not as a punishment, but as a way of letting him be responsible for the birth control since you've done your share of it.
I'm betting that, faced with the choice, he would choose the vasectomy. I can't say enough good things about the big V! :)

I am glad it is resolved and that he apologized. I have a hubby too that sometimes needs to be reminded that if his joke hurts feelings then it's not a joke...
That said, I agree with the other posters in that you have done your share, including the child birth. It's his turn to step up to the plate and have the vasectomy. It really is so quick and easy these days, there is no comparison to the tubal ligation...I would definitely be telling him that if he truly doesn't want to have it done, then it's condoms from here on out... He will come around.
