Probably a repetitive question...

So, now that I got my letter and orientation session, can I make my appointments that are listed or should I wait till after the session?  I could arrange them to be after the session but be proactive in all ready getting them set up, no?  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You do not mention which hospital. At TWH they give you your next appts at the orientation meeting. You can check with your hospital but I would guess it is the same with most.

You will most likely have to wait for the center to give you your appointments.  The waiting for the next appointment is the longest part of this process.  How quick I'll go it all depends on your center and if you are following all the rules and suggestion they give you.  Good luck on your journey!

I don't think Guelph will book appointments till after the orientation. They want you to be fully aware of what you are facing before they book you further. When I went to my orientation last year they said we can call the following day to schedule our first set of appointments

okay, just thought I could plan ahead to make sure I can get in as quickly as I can...heeehee...I've waited so long, thought I could cut down some time.  Wouldn't it be okay to make them, then I could always change/cancel them after the orientation?

I went for orientation in Guelph on Aug 23, they told us to call the next day for next appt. When I called the next day, they took my name and number and called me back 1 1/2 weeks later with appts.
I go Oct 9 for RN Dietition and SW.
Can't wait!!!!

maybe I'm a little confused...with my letter, it came with a list of tests needed before proceeding with bariatric surgery??
 - a STOP BANG questionaire
 - H.Pylori blood test
 - Upper abdominal u/s
 - upper GI study
 - bloodwork (a list for pre-assessment bloodwork)

Do I get these done prior to orientation? or after?

Start the testing now... That's ok.. Make sure you follow up with your doctor after the results of each test has come back and get a copy for your own records... Trust me.. When I got to my first set of appointments I was told that didn't have the results for my h-pylori and the sleep study and I had a copy handy to give them right then and there so it did not delay booking the rest of my appointments ..

If the h-pylori comes back positive don't panic but I would start treatment right away

Pooh another thing the is a sleep clinic in Kitchener that got me in super quick message me if you need the name

 Hello Dee/and All!

Hope you don't mind as I have been observing and taking notes from you...you seem quite knowledgeable about the whole process.

I have my orientation Oct. 18/12 and am grateful for your advice!

I already did my tests except upper GI......try to book those ASAP - seems like the K-W area is out of
barium and I had to book it through the Hospital and it will take a while!

Thanks kindly to all for taking the time to respond to us newbies!  We need your expertise!
