I would take all that information to your clinic team and ask them what they want to do. I'd assume they would book you an appointment with the surgeon so he/she can look over your medical history and issues and see if you still qualify medically, and if it's safe to do the surgery. Sounds like you're going through a lot, hopefully they get it all figured out so you start feeling better!

Perhaps you need to deal with the medical issues you have especially the cancer. Decisions would need to be made about what will be done for that before you should do anything else to your stomach such as WLS

I think you made the best decision for you right now...personally I think if you went ,once you got to the surgeon he would have wanted some of your medical condition handled to some degree before surgery...they would not do surgery with anyone that the risk was to high.. .I also believe if you are having so many issues with so many doubts ,it's just not you time...you sound like your really worried and no one can make such a big life changing decision for you only you... this is something we have to handle mentality as well ...Maybe down the road will be your time .. Be happy in your decision..feel better and let the path be clearer....wishing you the very best....

So sorry to hear about all your medical issues Val. They are much more serious than losing weight. It sucks because we came to this decision for weight loss surgery  and have our hearts set on it. But focus on getting well. And if they fix your thyriod you might lose some weight! If not, once you get everything taken care of then consider weight loss surgery. You don't want to add more stress to yourself!

I hope everything turns out well for you!

Hi Val, sorry you are going though this, it seems to be a lot at once.  Some things I'd like you to note, thyroid can be controled, it may take a bit of time to get the right dose of meds, but it's nothing life threatening (I'm assuming that you have Hypothryroid and not hyperthyroid).  Your liver levels may be artificially high right now.  When I had my gallbladder out (pre WLS) my levels were high as well, but they waited to see if it was a true high or not.  Apparently your gallbladder can affect your liver levels, and they can lower somewhat once it's out.

I'm assuming that you are being refered to a specialist for your cancer.  They will help you through this, mention your intention to have gastric bypass.

You will get through this, and things will settle down.  You will get back on track.  Getting these medical issues out of the way pre-WLS will help, trust me.

Cathy
