I should also say I got my referral from a new family doctor who I was meeting for the first time. I went prepared though. I printed off the 17 pages of instructions I found on the Ontario website. It is written for doctors, it is a step by step guide on how to submit a referral to the bariatric clinic. I also documented my weight loss journey with weight and actions taken and dates. Writing my history with weight took 2 pages. On the top of both those pages I noted my current weight, current BMI, my health card information including date of birth and anything else he would need for the referral. He listened to my journey and accepted the (hopefully) helpful paperwork. He said he would have it completed by the end of the week (3 days). It took 5 weeks and 6 follow up calls from me before he got around to the referral. Then covid happened. But alas, be your own advocate. Be prepared. SHOW your family doctor you did your research. Make it easy for your doctor to say yes. Then follow up like s/he owes you money!

I dont think it is impossible to get a new doctor right now. Where abouts are you? In the GTA we are still doing family doctor appointments via phone or in some cases video. Even walk in clinics switched over. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Happy Friday ;)

I stuck to plan yesterday but was not able to get a full walk in due to rain so I'm a bit disappointed. I'll make up for it this weekend and head to a nice long trail with some slopes. I may even do some weight training in the living room if the weather doesn't co-operate.

QOTD: I'm with you on the no pop rule. I was a huge diet Pepsi drinker until I decided to start preparing for surgery,,, I cut down in the first couple of months and then totally changed over to water and have not looked back since. My kids are constantly saying we have "nothing to drink" even though I always have juice and milk lol.

B - protein shake

S - turkey pepperettes

L - tossed salad with grilled chicken

S - clementine

D - fish, veggies of some sort

Good morning :)

I will give myself a B+ for sticking to my plan yesterday lol. There were a few nibbles -- it's especially hard to stay away from the little nugget's leftovers. I was outside a bit -- did some weeding. Not fun. The garden soil that we got seems to have a lot of weeds -- two in particular.

QOTD: what was the hardest change or rule for you having surgery? Mine was the no pop and no gum rules. I was a heavy pop drinker before. I haven't missed gum as much as I thought I would.

Post-op five years and two months.

Feeding snack - nut bar

Breakfast - protein pops

Snack - carrots and PB

Lunch - ham and cheese, maybe pickles

Snack - Greek yogurt, banana, splash of granola

Dinner - chicken and salad

Snack - protein pops or pudding

All water and vits.

Good morning all,

I also weighed myself this morning and the scale is not moving. I have had no weight loss since the gym closed mid-March so it's frustrating. I like your idea of small manageable goals so will set the same and work on 5 lbs for now. Over the past few weeks, weight training was out of the question due to shoulder issues, but now that the weather is nice I think longer walks daily will help plus I can use my indoor cycle if there is rain.

QOTD: Well I had done very well on losing up until the past couple of months and I have "maintain" down to a science so the key for me will be to get back to the losing phase. My menu has been consistent but I'm going to pull out my old food logs from the first solid food phase and try using those...... more fish ;) (Megs favorite lol) We can do it girl!!

B - greek yogurt, blueberries

S - boiled egg

L - tossed salad with grilled chicken

S - tamari almonds

D - baked chicken, asparagus

S - turkey pepperette

Good morning :)

I weighed myself this morning and I'm not happy with where I'm at so I need to put more effort into turning things around. I believe in setting small, manageable goals. So my first goal is to lose five pounds. We have been spending a lot of time outside, so my activity level has been up a bit, but it could also be better.

QOTD: how are you doing with achieving your weight goal, maintaining, or working on regain? My regain is primarily from pregnancy, and I gave myself too much slack. I know I can turn things around!! :)

Post-op five years and two months.

Breakfast - protein pops

Snack - carrots and PB

Lunch - ham and cheese, apple

Snack - Greek yogurt, little banana, little granola

Dinner - TBD, but I'm thinking chicken and veg

Snack - protein pops if I make more, SF pudding if I don't

All water and vits.

Good morning ;)

Awww sorry to hear you aren't feeling the best today. Maybe since LN2 didn't sleep so well through the night she will have a nice long nap today and so can MOMMY! Crossing my fingers for you.

QOTD: Honestly I have never been a nap person. If I'm sick or for some reason have a poor night, I will occasionally just lay down when I get home from work for an hour or so. It really throws me off when I do that though,,,, I wake up and feel like I missed my alarm or something then realize its 6:30 p.m. ... very disorienting!

B - protein shake

S - greek yogurt & blueberries

L - turkey, tossed salad

S - dry roasted almonds

D - egg white omelette wrap with bacon, mushrooms and cheese

S - shouldn't need one - maybe chocolate hummus and strawberries

Did much better on my water since it was 32 degrees yesterday! 3.5L

Good morning :)

Not feeling 100% myself this morning. LN2 was up three times through the night which is very unusual for her. We will have a quiet day.

QOTD: do you nap? I love taking naps. I always get tired around 2pm so I love having a refresh nap.

Post-op three years and two months.

Breakfast - protein fudge pops

Snack - protein bar

Rest of the day is up in the air but we have leftover BBQ ribs from last night.

All water and vits.

I'm not an outdoorsy person so I try to make sure I get the little nuggets out a lot to see the bugs and plants :) it's not my favourite thing but I think it's important for them.
