Does your calcium supplement have added magnesium?

Hi Meggles07

I take 600 mgs of calcium twice a day with 3,000 IU of Vitamin D also twice a day. I also take two pre-natal multivitamins (for the extra iron). I also get a B12 shot weekly and occasionally I get iron injections but right now my iron is acceptable.

I will try posting this in the RNY board too, good idea.

Thanks,

Hi

I too had a slip and talked to the hospital dietitian about it. She suggested I refocus and do the best I could. Physical hunger led to the slip. I have no idea why hunger rages, then days like today I am not hungry at all. So frustrating.

Getting down on yourself isn't helpful. If I may be so bold as to suggest you look at this as a learning opportunity and determine why you had the slip. If it wasn't physical hunger but emotional eating that may be something you want to examine more closely.

Two thoughts:

Have you tried cross-posting this on the RNY board? I think there is a lady on there with info about SIBO who could maybe respond.

What vitamins/supplements are you taking?

Hello all!

I had my Roux-en-Y surgery in February of 2015. I was 300 pounds and how holding steady for the last two years anywhere between 165 and 170. This morning i was 167. My lowest weight was three years after surgery and that was 153.

In January of this year I began to have diarrhea daily, to the point where I was going upwards of 10 times a day. My family doctor prescribed me Viberzi and I had some success with it up until about June. I am now on Zaxine for a 14 day course. My doctor thinks I have SIBO - small intestinal bacterial overgrowth so we are trying the Zaxine. I am 4 days into the Zaxine and I realize I will have to give it more time but things are no better.

I am wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me and if so, what did you do and did you get better? Any tips/tricks?

I have tried:

Metamucil capsules, Align probiotics, unsweetened Kefir, Greek and Skyr Yogurt with probiotics, kimchi and apple cider vinegar all with really no lasting results.

Any advice or suggestions you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: RE: Why am I still so hungry at day 11 on optifast?

It was long time ago, but I still remember i was hungry on Optifast. Optifast I was on had a lot of carbs and sugars per serving. I wan on a liquid diet for 4 weeks, so in week 2-3-4 I used other low carb, higher proteins drinks approved by my center.

Optifast is meant to shrink your liver to give room for the doctor to operate on your stomach safely. It could be bad if the doctor opens you up and he can't complete you surgery because you didn't stick to the opti. I would be honest and talk to your doctor and let him know what has happened, for your own safety.

I have heard of people having a bite of something here and there without having any issues but I don't know of anyone that had whole meals. Please talk to your doctor.

Topic: Optifast diet

I have been on the optifast 900 diet since the 7th and the first few days were not so bad other than some side effects but i have had three occasions where i did not stick to the diet and ended up going out and buying food and i feel like i've let myself down that i could not stick to this diet. Has anybody else come across this situation in their experience and would this effect the surgery in anyway?
