Hi everyone,
Support group meeting tomorrow night (May 20) 6pm at the Salem Hospital, we are still in the old building basement Room D.
OK here is the update about parking for the meeting. Those of you that used valet it is stil available but it is now located at the COM (outpatient) building and there is a charge of $5 per car. You need to park before 5pm and you can pick-up until 8:30pm.
There is no longer a shuttle bus to pick up and drop off. So those of us that can and are able need to walk from the parking garage.
I am looking at other options to move the meetings closer for those that have trouble walking distances. I'll have information tomorrow and will discuss that. I appologize for the inconvience.
Any other questions please feel free to call me.

I got a letter from his office saying that he is going to Corvallis. I see him this tuesday for my first fill .... at Riverbend
I think you have mistaken my meaning. I am a strong advocate for bariatric surgery. I had weight loss surgery ten years ago and it has chaned my health and my life. Nine of my family members have since followed and all have recieved the benefits of bariatric surgery. As a nurse I have worked in the field of bariatrics for eight years. We have many fine surgeons in Oregon and from what I have heard Dr. Yarbrough is one. I was told the Oregon Bariatric Center is currently on a probationary status and will be until they have another site review. I would refer all interested parties to the the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery web site were the current "Centers of Excellence" are listed. It will always be my desire that all past and future bariatric patients recieve the best care possible.I am thrilled that you are happy with your care and I wish you and all bariatric patients the very best.
Here is the list of Medicare-approved facilities in Oregon:
Bay Area Hospital, Coos Bay (as of 6/30/2008)
Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center, Portland (as of 2/24/2006)
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Portland (as of 6/27/2006)
Sacred Heart Medical Center, Eugene (as of 1/23/2008)
St. Charles Medical Center, Bend (as of 6/30/2008)
The one Sacred Heart Hospital on the list is on Hilyard St. in Eugene. The list does NOT show Sacred Heart Hospital at Riverbend as a Medicare-approved facility.

They are still "Center of Excellence". When Dr Yarbrough moves to Corvallis in August, they are in the process of hiring two more highly qualified surgeons who will come on board soon. When they do, they will go on a "probationary" status for a time and then back to their full status.
I don't know where you are getting this info but it has nothing to do with the quality of the program which I think is excellent. Please don't bad-mouth such a fine center!
