Good mornin Jennifer and all.

it was a hectic weekend. Glad it's over. I found out I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon in Lubbock on November 10th! Progress! I wi**** was sooner as it's been really really bad pain wise...limiting my movement and such. BUT...it's sooner than I expected! So glad for that, now just to have good weather!

QOTD: I love it all.

B: eggs, sausage and cheese with coffee of course

L: ????

D: shrimp spring rolls.

the last one also applies to dogs blowing their summer coats.

Good morning ! ( Well as good as it can be w a noreaster going on ... )

Im feeling thoroughly guilty for not being out in LI - frankly the thought of saving my heating system by buying a generator , stealing electricity and pumping out the basement in bitter totally unheated cold ( before the storm it was 12 inches deep w no sump pump working for days - considered myself lucky )

I should take pics if its deeper cuz the heating system/ ho****er heater will definitely have to be replaced and thats a $40,000 dollar plus job ( seven zones ultra efficient furnace and large top quality water heater and supplement )

Technically the city is responsible since they turned the electricity off and were informed by my atty that a sump pump needs to constantly run to prevent flooding - not to mention the electric prescribed oxygen machine this critical care patient needs to run too . But I dont need the headache nor the enormous job of replacing everything if its not too late .....

Grrr - I guess I better get out there .

Sundays food - not much - 1/2 enormous cream donut from Paris Baguettes eaten in tiny bites . ( luckily sugar doesnt agree w m)

brunch - small part of Pret chipotle chicken Mexican salad w yogurt dressing

New Zealand green mussels w fresh red garlic sauce ( about ten) sopped up w a bit of toasted garlic bread ( I dont mean the grease- smeared kind but the ff sourdough loaf containing roasted garlic cloves yum !

Chai tea latte ff sf of course

Coffee latte ( same)

Watermelon juice

d- leftover Ikea almond crusted cod w lemon sauce peas and mashed potatoes all enhanced by butter flavored ff popcorn seasoning ( freeze dried butter )

Today b- cheese plate w salads - tabouleh , pickled onions , roasted corn n pepper salad , moroccan carrot farro raisin n almond salad , tzaziki n potato salad . Needless to say I just take bites not SCARF ...

.

Interestingly there was a study comparing the long term weight loss success of three types of eaters post bariatric surgery .

The first category .. so called foodies like myself that love to experiment w taste and guiltlessly make great food an everyday priority are the most successful by far years out .. ( counterintuitive isnt it )

Whereas emotional eaters and lifelong food restricters ( dieters ) are NOT nearly as successful on average . Weird !

L- might skip it or eat a sandwich or soup

D - tbd

Because I 14 years post RNY still have significant malabsorption ( In my opinion cuz I never abused it - I simply usually don't enjoy fat ) Im not worried about gaining weight from the cheese.

chai tea latte ff sf

coffee skim latte ff sf

snack- part of pear tart ( mostly the fruit - leave most of the crust)

Im definitely a huge soup grrrl .. Pretty much eat it

w every meal or as a snack. ( year round ) My Parents think eating soup and salad for supper is WEIRD - I think laying down after eating cheese and salami brings GERD lol.

Chili- not so much though I LOVE the white chicken chili from Pret .

Stew - Sure , anytime I can eat bits of meat or fish n veg n various kinds of potato n yucca n plaintain in tasty lowfat sauce Im THERE.

But Ive learned not to make crock- pots full unless guests are coming :) - struggle perserving / doing justice to ( by eating them ) commercial portioned leftovers as it is .

My tiny apartment sized refrigerator is already packed to bursting in just a couple of days ...

Topic: What's on your Monday menu?

Good Morning Gang. Another Monday is upon us. I do not have today off, and we are having tours twice today for Walktober. Irvin and I got a ton of stuff done this Saturday and yesterday I made chili, soup, and a turkey since it was a rainy cool day I figured those things would be perfect to make and have for the week.

QOTD: When it comes to cool weather food are you a soup, chili, or stew person? Me I'm all three and I love to make different ones throughout the Fall and Winter months.

B: coffee and protein shake

L: chili with cheese

D: veal cutlets with mushrooms

I have to finish cleaning up the office.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Topic: RE: OT - Are massage chairs supposed to bruise???

It's actually quite common to feel sore or bruised after using a strong massage chair, especially if it applied deep pressure for a long time. Your muscles may not be used to that level of intensity it's similar to post-workout soreness. Try using lower settings next time and hydrate well to help your muscles recover. For gentle and natural relief, check out ayuraayurveda.com, where Ayurvedic methods offer soothing ways to ease muscle tension and promote healing.

Weird day ( yesterday). Woke up at 5 to drive out to LI without onerous rush hour traffic-

b- tea latte w ff dairy n truvia

bite of hazelnut croissant n pain au chocolat despite rebellious tummy ( still have malabsorption 14 years post op ) due to probably the string cheese Thurs.

second b in LI -skim coffee latte , egg n bacon sammie on English muffin , hash browns

Exercise- ate away at the overgrown hedge for an hour - Dont know why but I love landscaping lol ... I guess its peaceful-mind time no pressure just concentrating on the plants .

L - 2 fried chicken wings minus most of the skin, a couple of mini meatballs in red sauce , a couple of giant tater tots w cheese

1/2 cup squash soup cut w chicken soup

D- Chinese takeout - small wonton soup w scallions

beef n eggplant w pork fried rice ( small bowl) , half a hard cider , herbal tea w a dollop of honey whisky

Today is the day the bulldozers were supposed to come ... my ( super expensive but Thank God competent ) atty mercifully informed me no order to demolish has so far been filed at the Supreme Court.

This doesn't amount to much currently as I can't touch the phragmites on the dock w/out a DEC permit and paying for and filing the Town one - also w/ out electricity to run the sump pump and chargecnail guns and whackers/ mowers and water to flush the toilets -how can the City possibly expect immediate improvement to this area ? Grrr!

Other than spending the afternoon driving hours to two DEC offices only to find them closed ( grrr) and failing to submit Town permit application successfully ( new more complicated online only permitting system - yet another useless waste of the highest property taxes in America ) I packed the car w blankets , fur throws, inflatable and lounge chairs and dirty dishes and pots to cook w here .

Promised myself a trip to Ikea today to check on curtains n rods for huge windows ( six feet tall , eight , ten and 15 feet wide ).

Most new apartments this price have custom privacy shades on glass doors / windows but here there are none . Good news is previous tenants had them ( screw holes) so they bought the necessaries somewhere.

Also scouring thrift shops for amazing fireplaces ( need 2 five foot ones one for bedroom one for living room/ kitchen) and a murphy bed that converts to a couch n shelves for the guest room .

Still planning to Air B&B if building allows it- for a lot more munny here per nite because of the shared space and amazing view and amenities. Thank God a main subway line lands not three blocks from here.

B- 2 very large stuffed clams I baked yesterday enhanced w fresh lemon juice n ff butter popcorn seasoning ( freeze dried so fat free real butter)

ff tea latte w ff whipped cream

ff coffee latte w ff whipped cream & peanut butter whiskey ... go ahead beat m up :)

l- Carribean chicken 2 ways collard greens , ff scrambled eggs ( egg whites or egg beaters , butter buds ( for want of a better word -freeze dried real butter popcorn seasoning U can buy in any grocery store is EXACTLY the same thing ) fat free american cheese slices, fat free half and half , a little green part of scallions, snipped

d- Ikea

guilty snax yesterday - 2 small halloween candies, handful of chili lime plaintain chips.

have a great Saturday !

My many months in Florida really made me miss my NYC provided free unlimited Chiropractic treatments and walking home thru Central Park afterwards.

Its probably WAY too much to schedule but Im gonna call them at 9 AM to see when they can fit me in .

Today's weather because theres a severe storm coming tomorrow will probably be soft n warm - shame 2 waste it ! ( It actually rained all day - puttered around new apt in Haloween pajamas, blew up inflatable temporary furniture , did endless laundry n dishes lol. ) Now for fun ...

Trying to figure out how to post a ticker ...

Hoping you don't have pumpkin guts all over your house today, I remember that mess well lol.

Have you ever gotten any relief from those little home TENS units? My PT recommended one before my shoulder surgeries and when it gets angry from being abused I drag it out again. Relief doesn't last forever but I still appreciate it. Hope your shoulder will calm down and really hope you get a call from the surgeon's office!

How do they create those agate sheets? Acrylic with ground bits or maybe a shellac? Its been awhile since I've seen any of those at my local thrift stores.

Your Tange is so pretty! How old is he? I hope we can get to know our new Feral Ginger enough to get him scanned (but he's skinny and I think he was abandoned) and maybe convince him to shred his Feral Card. He just doesn't seem as wary as the other Ferals. It would be a big surprise if it was a she.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Hi, we made it to the end of the week! We've been having light frosts every evening, glad I got in 95% of the garden. Today I have to trim the shrubs in the front and then get the peppers harvested. Looks like today is the last day in the 70's and the cold temps move in. Hope your storm isn't bad.

QOTD: None, the sequels are always disappointing to me. Tv franchise would be Star Trek and all it's spin-offs definitely. But the movies got kind of stupid.

Going to try to eat better today.

B: coffee w/FF 1/2 and 1/2, bottled protein shake

L: Small salad w/ hard boiled egg, lowfat dressing and 5 ginormous grapes.

D: An egg-bites style dish I prepped last night with 1/2 zucchini, 1 LF mozz stick, 1 Amylu breakfast sausage (can't wait till I've used those up, they are awful) and 1/2 cup Egg Beaters.

LS: another bottled protein drink. Chocolate or caramel??? Maybe the caramel and mixed with some decaf chai.

Wish I could figure out how to add a picture better, we DO have a new feral. Pretty but skinny ginger. Looks like we'll be able to gain his trust, hopefully. Then we'll check him for a tattoo or signs of ballage/deflation. We'd seen a ginger in the company of a neighbor's black kitty a few years ago so we want to see if he's a newbie or maybe was a former pet. :(

Hope you have a great weekend.

Good morning all.

We have the kids today. They are out of school. We're going to carve pumpkins...pray for us adults please. LOL

I am feeling very rough and got little sleep. My shoulder feels like I have been punched. So today'll be long.

We roasted a chicken last night and fixed some Brussels sprouts and broccoli. It was so tasty! We have leftovers today.

QOTD: LOTR for sure.

B: egg, cheese, sausage and coffee

L: leftovers from dinner yesterday

D: ????

Top of a box I found at the thrift store. It's slices of agate on a glass sheet. The bottom is steel so not pics of that. Then of course Tange..
