Good morning all and happy Monday,
It's a beautiful day in Chicagoland - the sun is shining and we've got that classic blustery 45°, crisp and fresh. I've got to say, I'm really happy to see that the clock finally turned over to a new month after a rough October - we made it!
Over the weekend I treated myself to something special: I went to an art/animation presentation featuring the artist who drew the characters from Bob's Burgers. It was incredible - only seven people showed up, so it was super intimate and personal. Even better, I got a custom drawing of myself and my dog. That's going straight up on the wall and already making me smile.
For accountability, here's my food plan:
- Friend accountability: three magic dessert bars
- Breakfast: Dannon Light & Fit yogurt
- Lunch: Premier protein shake, maybe some hummus and carrots, and a few ounces of chicken
- Dinner: BBQ pork chop with G Hughes sugar-free BBQ sauce
Let's stay focused, check in with each other, and reach for those little victories today. What's something you're proud of from the weekend or a goal you're setting for yourself this week? Wishing you all a strong, positive start to November!
HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 208 lbs 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

Those pics are awesome!
not sure what's up for today. We might go out to the mall. We have a coupon for free stuff from bath and body works. I am wanting a perfume they have but not sure I can spend the money on it. We need to get some new faucet covers so Walmart or Lowe's might be visited today too.
i did manage to get a bracelet done this weekend. It's very pretty but I'm partial as it's my favorite weave, pic included at the bottom.
QOTD: whoa, don't get me started! I LOVE history. Pretty much any of it. I love pretty much any early American history to just about any American history. I love ancient Americas history too. Egyptian, any cultures of the Mediterranean, parts of Africa, medieval European history. Pacific island stuff. Japanese. I also like military history of the US. The slavery history here in the US. If we forget or ignore what happened it'll repeat again.
B: pita egg pocket, coffee
L: ???? Maybe a chimichanga
D: shrimp spring role
a squirrel in the food box(taken from my chair through a window and across the whole front yard), an ornament I made and the aforementioned bracelet.
Happy Monday Gang!! The Jack-0-Lantern event we went to on Friday was pretty neat. The history of the place was really interesting. I'm glad we went. Here's some pictures. The picture with the wooden ladder in the background is where the inmates climbed in and out of the mine. They were locked down there at night and during the day they had shackles on to do work around the prison grounds.
QOTD: What century of history do you find interesting? That's kind of a tough one because all of history fascinates me. For history in the US the 1700 and 1800's had a ton of world changing events. Outside of the US I find the Roman era and Egyptian Pharoah era rather interesting.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: chicken sausage and chili
D: beef fajitas
Have a great day everyone!!!
Good Morning Menuers !
Gosh that fresh homecanned plum juice sounds greeat Gemini !
I have a few black - leaved plum trees on the Long Island property - planted for their flowers and leaf color but they produce tiny ( like three grapes put together ) delicious little plums in huge abundance .
Wonder if I could put them thru the cider press de pitted of course ? They make fantastic sugar free jam as do my morello cherry trees. Neither has any pests or diseases.
Busy day planned today - applying for two apts 9am this morning ( pictured) and seeing another one at ten .
Been reaching out to un-advertising buildings w large terraces too .. with mixed results - one told me yesterday (via AI ! ) they couldnt give me a tour till Nov 30 lol! ![]()
After an incredibly windy night Halloween that literally shook the " roo" all nite it was gorgeous n warm yesterday and looks the same today . Feel guilty am not landscaping but housing comes first - its getting COLD.
b- Spanish food leftovers hopefully warmed up w fresh made Morton Williams chicken soup . I swear that great product alone keeps them in business !
l&d tbd but probably salads n Americanish buffet
late nite snack - bites of cold mashed potato , decaf coffee n ff milk sf ****tail .
The nite before I got ambitious for new flavor in that and made it w honey Croatian liquor - boy did I get sick ! ![]()
Speaking of head hunger - its easing because of my having to throw out so much good unrefrigerated food .

Taking the Naltrexone / Buproprion combination in the morning helps a lot - I take 50 N and 150 B normally - 300 B when dressing 2 excercise . 600 mg B is the max recommended dose btw .
Embracing the nausea helps too - im shocked that sometimes when I COULD eat I physically dont want to !
Here R pics of the apartments I saw in this huge almost 1,000 ap****erfront complex . huge pluses - gas stove with mega burner - great for making Asian food - decent sized kitchens some with light finishes ( i hate black counters ! ) and Ok sized terraces some w views .
Problem - I cant use all my containers or furniture in storage - havta move to LI - expensive
! But this building gives 3 months free rent and $1800 towards moving expenses so not so bad . On street parking sucks though ( but experienced worse )
Oh and they have a sal****er pool and amazing amenities - if they commit to warming the water early in the morning like they do in my Parents Florida condo itll be actually usuable 4 m . I hate cold post RNY !
We didn't get many little kids on Friday, but they were cute and Hubby is happy that there is now beaucoup leftover candy. Sunday it is going into lockup and I'll just dole it out when he asks. He doesn't need to have a diabetic stroke.
Saturday was a pretty good day even though I didn't sleep again till 4. I puttered around at a zippy pace and got a lot of organizing and sewing prepping done. Also brought the canning stuff back upstairs, it is time again already to can more plum juice for Hubs. (Not the same thing as prune juice, this is light and delicious and helps when his sugars are low.) He's gone through 2 1/2 cases of it since early September.
The food noise was better today, I think that extra Bupropion helped. Monday I should schedule a phone appt. w/dr and see if I can convince her to bump up my dosage.
Your Saturday food sounded good, yum! Hope starting the financial talk w/Dad is going to be fruitful for you. Has he always just had a mean streak toward you or is it some kind of Dementia issue? Wish your dad is as sweet as my dad was before the end. He was pretty much a teddy bear, I sure miss him.
It is stinkin' cold here but the forecast for Sunday seems like it will be the last sunny day for awhile. I dragged up the Christmas lights and the hooks today, hoping I can get Hubs to help me on Sunday after I get back from church.
Got most of the important clocks set correctly. Hope you did too so you don't miss any apartment appointments tomorrow.

Good post- Halloweenie morning Menuers !
Hope some of U attended great partiez n we can virtually enjoy them thru Ur storiez :)
Sitting in front of a City Panera bread remarking that they have the NERVE not to open till 8 - the Long Island ones open the doors at 6 lol.
Plans today starting in an hour - visit every apt with a giant terrace in d area and apply.
Eat better than yesterday, go to Chiropractor and see an exhibit or musical something. Oh and sign up for free City- paid gym membership.
b- have a basic largely untouched dinner - mashed potatoes, beer battered cod , cold Jambalaya sausage chicken n rice soup lightened w chicken broth.
Problem is I hate cold food and most breakfast foods too - but I wont starve. Yesterdays egg salad w arugula was delicious, have a half ham n cheese croissant and 1/2 an almond pastry too .
l- Spanish buffet w Whole Foods salads. Chicharron ! ( just the twice fried pork belly MEAT part - this is still fattening !)
Spanish harvest soup w yucca, corn on the cob n potato .
Filling from beef potato empanada ( a little crust )
Saag paneer ( Indian creamed spinach , tabouleh , pickled n caramelized onions , Korean cucumber salad w sesame seeds n carrot kimchee .. beet salad
d - probably leftover bites from lunch and Whole Foods cold sesame noodles w cucumber
decaf coffee and ff milk ****tail
guilty bites - mashed potatoes in middle of the nite about 1/2 cup , apple jacks cereal ( several handfuls ) half savory n sweet croissants ( I think those count as dinner )
Started basic financial conversation with Dad in which he pumped me for information, twisted it around to make me sound like an idiot and repeated it to the first person he saw ( my Mom) .
I dont know whether I should be happy he finds me fascinating ( What a fool I am is pretty much his main subject of conversation ) ...
Perhaps eventually we can mutually show our financial cards in a third party tax professional's setting Im of course gonna have to pay for.
Im pretty much happy w th way things r going - completed and submitted apartment application for the Favorite yesterday and going to apply for another terraced modern waterview in minutes Ive already seen.
Asked for appointments all day an hour apart - Ive learned to overbook cuz these spoiled agents very rarely confirm .
Yep got there apartments empty and or locked ... agents nowhere 2 b found ![]()
.
Halloween kitties R WAY too cute!
Hope everything goes well 4 U with the rheumatologist, Melody. Pain is such a PITA !
I need to do stuff to release my upper back , neck and shoulders . I too was diagnosed with arthritis ib these areas and therefore lack flexibility there.
Chiropractic and Physical therapy help keep me pain free and standing tall ( a huge immediate difference after a Chiropractic adjustment - unfortunately it only lasts a few days during which I try to do the exercises the physical therapist assigned to strengthen the muscles to keep my posture in alignment.
Voltaren ( OTC ) seems to help my neck pain and occasional wrist pain as does a ( prescribed) muscle relaxant.
Hope U feel better Mel.

Good mornin y'all.
busy day ahead here. I need to go to Walmart unfortunately. I'm sure my mom wants to go to the thrift stores too. I need to fit in somewhere washing a load of clothes. I think the kids are coming over this evening in their costumes. We made cake pops yesterday and got some special Halloween cookies to put in their goodie bags. First time I've made the pops and they were just a simple ok. I had half of one. I did have a half one of the cookies too.
I am waiting for the referral for a rheumatologist still. I am anxious about it. I've ordered a few anti-inflammatory diet books and I'm thinking the Mediterranean diet is the way to go. My hands have been aching so badly so I ordered some of those fingerless compression gloves. I am going to need to change some things but I can do this.
QOTD: definitely vampires. But neither really scare me. Now clowns are a different story.
B: unfortunately a small donut
L: were thinking a turkey sandwich with stuffing and a tiny bit of cranberry sauce (firehouse subs has one that we've been pinning for so we're making our own! Even have some gravy. Decadent? Yes but leftover like stuff is my fav part of thanksgiving dinner
D: maybe something lighter.
Happy Halloween!
I guess its Hurricane Melissa but yesterday in LI the pelting rain wouldnt let up - this morning in NYC its windy enuf to blow leaves off d trees and swirl them up d Broadway sidewalks !
Im snug as a bug in a rug using free NYC city wide wifi ( what a gift ! ) in my $600 dollar " roo" ( ever perfectly running lil ancient Subaru station wagon ) enjoying brekkie and a hot Panera coffee 9 AM parked on Broadway

Its funny what Ull get used to ...but Im truly happy in my little shell - shes heatable, lockable and gets m where I need 2 go ... a mini land-boat !
Ive always had a dream of renting an RV and traveling x-country exploring the amazing vast National and State parks across the US .
Nowhere in the world is there a National Park system like ours ...
These dreams wouldnt b possible ( even my RNY many years ago that released me from a prison of fat and depression ! ) without seriously working on myself - persuading my unconfident self to reluctantly, unbelievingly follow the footsteps of those who escaped before me and lived their best lives.
Though my life is nowhere near perfect its SO much better than it was ..
Trying today to experience something new and wonderful not just survive, eat interestingly and solve problems.
b- egg salad sammie w arugula
I jes saw Dorothy and a marvelous silver-faced Tin Man skipping down Broadway arm-in-arm I kid U not .. followed by a great witch !! Guess I gotta go find a costume lol !
Its a Party !! ![]()
