Topic: RE: ? Is VSG the same as VG?
Hi There:
There is a board call Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy that may be the one that your doctor is talking about. Go to Select Surgery type. This procedure is different than the VSG.
I agree with everyone else that you should find another doctor that is more educated about the Lap band.
Topic: ? Is VSG the same as VG?
Hi Everyone, I just got back to from my consultation and I thought that I was going to get the lap-band and my Dr. talked me out of it and to get the VG surgery done instead. It is where they go in and take some of your stomach out. Has anyone had this procedure done.
Thanks,
Shelly

I am almost to my 1 year anniv. of 8-13 and I have lost 118 lbs! I am so excited! I try to stay as active as I can. I have hit a plateau for about a month now Hopefully that will go away and I will make it to my goal weight of 150 lbs by my birthday (Oct 16)

I know that you already figured this out... but had you not I would have recommended that you call the doctor. Better safe than sorry.

Topic: RE: VBG
Hello Maliboo -- glad that you have come to a decision regarding surgery. It is certainly a personal decision on which surgery to go for. I certainly wondered if I was choosing the right surgery as well. In the end I feel I made an informed decision. I am sure I would have had a different end result with any other surgery. However, I am deeply satisfied with the surgery I choose.
Best Regards!

Topic: RE: Sleep apnea, anyone?
I also was in the same boat as you prior to VBG. I had 60-90 episodes per hour. I was severely depressed on top of the sleep apnea (is it any wonder?).
I have not gone back in for another test however, I do not sleep with the c-pap any longer. I probably should go in and get rechecked just to be sure. I will have to make an appointment.
Anyways... Hopefully you will find that the sleep apnea goes away for you as well.
Best Regards,
Sharon
