Topic: RE: not sure on vbg...please help
I would suggest you research the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Go to google.com and type it in on search. There's lots of good info on it. Yahoo groups have just started a group on this also, go to http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/sleevegastrectomy/ .The VSG is the stomach part of the duodenal switch, but there's no messing with your intestines, and no foreign objects are placed.Hope this helps! Good luck in what ever you decide!......Rhonda

Topic: not sure on vbg...please help
hi all, i have a date set (8-17-05) for the vbg procedure but after hearing so many horror stories about it and gaining my weight back in five years im not sure i want to have it done, but i am more afraid of having the rny procedure. Something about rearranging my intestines just don't cut it for me. can anyone tell me if theres a new vbg procedure done without using staples cause i dont need anything getting through or growing back together (you know the fistulas) to reconnect the stomach. please help before its to late for me to turn back, i have a lot of coworkers who it has helped but now im confused; none of them has made it to 5yrs or more.

Topic: Fluids question
Hi all, am a week post op and this may sound like a silly question but I need it confirmed. I feel like i can drink more water that i probally should. Water goes though quicker right? Or should I only drink small portions? I would hate to stretch anything. Also, how much should i be eating at this time. I feel that I can only take in 1-2 tblsp of puree's, yogurt, cottage cheese etc. Thanks guys, Mel

Thanks for your support Sara, Gloria and Dianne! I appreciate it. Gloria... to lose the 9 pounds that month I basically exercised 5-6 days per week and ate a controlled diet. I tracked everything that I ate on Fitday.com which helped keep me on track. I will begin again tracking and regular exercise again on Monday. I am now trying to lose 39-55# by January 11 which will put me somewhere between 154-170#. Then I am going to check in with a plastic surgeon. I am hoping that 6 months is enough time for me to get the job done. Talk to you all soon! Best Regards Sharon 209#

Well, thought I'd pop in to let you all know that I am home safe and sound after my surgery on tuesday. I am shocked as to how well things went. I was anticipating everything to be much worse than it was. Although I could have done without the ng tube, the catheter and the taste of crushed t3's. Anyways, up during the night, I got too used to the hosp. beds that you can move up, down etc. Woke up pretty sore so i thought id come online for a bit. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and support. I'll bbl to fill ya's in on the gory details Oh yeah, I really wish I could have a a real one, without someone to help! Take care, Mel surgery date July 5, 2005
