I use 1200 calories a day as a baseline.  You have to eat more when you exercise. Every surgeon and nut is different.

I was trying to stay below 1200 but some days I wanna eat more and end up at around 1400-1500. I don't know if that's bad or not.

track your intake so you know what works for you.

it is going to vary wildly depending on all kinds of factors.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

It depends on a lot of things.  Are you at goal yet or are you still trying to lose?  Obviously you need fewer calories if you still want to lose, more if you are trying to maintain.  And do you exercise?

I'm 17 months  out and trying not to lose anymore.  I think I eat about 1500 calories a day, most days.

thats a great little tool, no matter if you have had RNY or not its all about calories in vs. calories out. to lose weight you need a calorie defecit, to maintain you can match what you burn and to gain you need more than you burn. this tool helps based on our information and weight goals.

1200 should be your goal.

I usually get in between 800 and 1200.

I get in about 900 - 1000.  At my year post op check last week, the dietician told me to up my calories.  I don't know if I'm just having a really busy week or what, but I'm having trouble getting over 1000 calories a day.  I even added a 2nd protein drink in the afternoon.

I've been getting in 100-120 gm protein daily.  80-100 gm carbs.  I do journal my food every day.  I don't eat simple carbs and don't want to just to up the calories.

I did add some Trader Joe's almond nut butter last night - 2 T= 200 calories.  They were healthy as the nut butter only contains almonds, flaxseed and sea salt.  It did get me to 1100 calories.

Who would have thought I'd have trouble getting in more calories!

I still have ~ 25 pounds to lose.

If your a year out and exercising 5-6x per week, you should get in around 1200-1400 calories. Sorry folks but if you are burning a ton of calories when you work out and you don't see the scale move, it means you need to eat more because your body is starving.
