How long has it been since you have had a soda?
My surgeon said that I had to wait 12 weeks before having soda because the healing process could be aggravated by the carbonation. I am only 13 weeks out....but I have no trouble whatsoever drinking soda. Of course the doc said it would have to be diet soda because the sugar will make me dump....but I dont have any problems at all. I pour a diet Dr. Pepper into my sippy cup and I'm good to go. When you pour it into something else...it goes flat pretty quick anyway. Truth is, whether you are drinking a soda with splenda or an iced tea with splenda, or So Be Lifewater................they all have the same artificial sweeteners. Usually Splenda, Equal, or Sweet & Low. My Doc said it doesn't really matter as long as you are not drinking your calories. He said try to stick to zero calorie beverages.....that includes diet soda.

Had some less than an hour ago with my dinner. I drink diet soda daily. Once I was a few months out and fully healed, it didn't cause me any discomfort.
I used to drink about 2-3 liters of Mt. Dew DAILY...That was all I would drink...Sometimes throwing in some water. I stopped soda about a month before my surgery...And shortly after the surgery Dt. Gingerale was approved...I had a little of that FLAT but literally only cause I was sick and stuff. (I was only home a week and obviously still healing) Other than that...I have not even had a sip and I am 8 months post op. I would like soda...But I know if I was to have it...I would go back into old habits with it, so I just avoid soda completly.
