A MEDICATION TO HELP WITH POST SURGERY NAUSEA

I had laproscopic surgery in August (fibroid tumor) and the surgeon gave me something to stop me from getting nauseous after surgery. Believe it or not, I forgot to use it (you have to put it on the night before) but luckily I didn't have any problems.

It's a patch that you put behind your ear the night before surgery and just leave it there.

The information from the box:
TRANSDERM SCOP PATCH
SCOPOLAMINE HYDROBROMADE 1.5 mg
Each patch is programmed to deliver in vivo approximately 1.0 mg over 3 days.

This is a medication for motion sickness / traveling but my surgeon said that it works well for surgery patients. After reading about the nausea issues I'm definitely going to email Nina and ask if I can use it because the thought of throwing up after that kind of stomach surgery scares the crap out of me!

Zofran works well too, comes in a tablet that you put under your tongue like a B12 tablet. It was the only thing that saved me after surgery!

Wow I guess I have been very lucky. RNY on 10/25 and the only nausea I  had was when they gave me morphine and that past in a few seconds

Zofran was the only thing that helped me. I had liquid form immediately post op. I also had several hospitalizations for dehydration and nausea and vomiting. Zofran was a Godsend. I took it in pill form also.

Funny, Zofran doesn't work for me AT ALL, but Phenergan is my savior.
I've started blogging my journey here at OH

I prefer Phenergan as well. I take it 3 x a day and I have Zofran for breakthrough nausea.
