i had RNY done back in Jan 09 i lost over 100lbs, was feeling and looking great, but i have completley drifted back into the bad habits that made me overweight in the first place, they say this is a journey, well i have driven off the side of the road, hit a tree, rolled down a cliff, and am now at the bottom struggling to get back on the right path. i still continue to exercise; however i seem obsessed with eating all the wrong foods, and cannot seem to control myself. i have talked with my nutritionist and the dr. they have great suggestions, i even know what to do, i just can't seem to get myself together, i have gained 30lbs back and am sabotoging myself, has anyone done this same thing, or have any suggestions for me, i would greatly appreciate hearing them.

Try looking at pictures (if there are any)  of your old self!!!!

Or look at the before and after here and picture your face on the befores because that is where ou are headed!!

Try making a list of the reasons you want/need to get your weight under control.

Try making a list of all the things that are easier for you to do now you have lost weight!!

You are in control and responsible for you - trust me -  you do not want to go back!!

Good Luck.

Your's is an often heard tale with many variations...Many post-ops slide back into old "bad" habits after successfully getting to/or close to weightloss goal...

The reality is the surgery is ONLY a tool and cannot chg your head, if you do not continue to be diligent and try to follow the rules of surgery you will not succeed in keeping it off in the long run...This said, 30 lbs is still workable, you can recover from the re-gain, but you DO have to be willing to take steps to overcome and try to fix the direction you head is letting you go in & it will not be as fast to come off as it was during your 1st yr post-op, reality much slower...

Many post-ops have found help with a therapist to figure out what is the root of continuing to make the wrong choices, if you can overcome that you will succeed in the long-term...In addtion, I would suggest you go back to the early days of post-op eating - protein forward, low fat, no "white" carbs (aka simple carbs) or sugar & try a food tracker to keep up with calories eaten...Try for protein over 80 grams a day & carbs @ 30 or less - I know this means giving up all those self-professed "wrong" foods, you already know what they are...Its not easy but the longer you go without them the easier it will be to continue saying NO...

Most of all, just keep your eyes on the prize & if you slide off track don't make a whole day of it, pull yourself right back into the center of the road ....You CAN do it !!!

I know, I know, I know, we are all in the same boat, at risk, but the food just ain't worth the weight.

You speak of journey, well look back at 2008 and how unhappy, unhealthy and all the other un's, then get mad as hell and say I am not going backwards.  I won't let this 30 Lbs turn into 50 Lbs,  I love my life, I love the way I look and feel.

Remember your health, happiness and appearance are bigger than any pizza, cheesecake, chocolate  or potato chips.

NOW GET MAD AS HELL AND FIGHT BACK!  God bless...........

I don't have an answer for you...  I just wanted to chime in and say you aren't alone!!  I'm in the same boat.

I'm almost 3 years out, eating the wrong things (Honey BBQ Lays and Spicy Doritos), and trying to get back on the road again.  I haven't seen my doctor since 6 month post op (I think) and I have NEVER had my vitamin levels checked since surgery.  I also haven't been taking my vitamins like I should have been and have gained back 20 lbs and never did ever reach goal.  (hummm  wonder why?  duh!!)

I went to a support group meeting a couple weeks ago and am really glad I did.  I plan on going to support group meetings at least monthly if not bi-weekly for awhile... (I live 2 1/2 hours away from my surgeon)  I also scheduled an apointment with my surgeon (Aug 4) for a follow-up apointment which will also include bloodwork, a visit with the dietician, a visit with the exercise expert, and possibly a visit with the psychologist if the doctor deems it necessary.

I ordered $150 in Bariatric Advantage vitamins and have been taking them more regularly lately than I think I ever have since I had surgery.

My surgeon's practice has a "re-start" program that is supposed to help get people like us back on track.  I am going to ask about that and hopefully find out what it is all about and maybe that will give me the jump-start I need to get back on track.

If you are still with me on this long post, I appreciate you "listening"  Also, I want to say feel free to message me on here and maybe we can help each other get back on track!

Best of luck to you at your appointment, the restart program sounds great my surgeons office doesn't offer that. It helps alot to know I am not alone in my frustration.
