Anthem BCBS of CA warning!!!
I have Anthem BCBS in California.
It's a fine plan and I am happy with my coverage, BUT......
I recently got a "Final Notice" from billing.
This was especially odd since I have had a credit card on file for the past 6 years that is automatically debited (for airline miles, of course) and nothing changed on my end.
So I call and I am told that they no longer accept auto payments and my policy will be cancelled if they do not receive payment in 3 days.
Naturally, I insist on speaking with a supervisor who I eventually get to do a "one time courtesy" payment over the phone...
Now I watch for the bills and send my check in every month .......
BUT, there was a chilling article in the LA Times a few days ago about exactly this.... And the many folks who just threw that notice away (thinking it was an error since they were on auto pay) or who never got a notification at all!
The author suggest that BCBS of CA actually did this on purpose!
