Question about reading posts...

When you come back to a thread you have been reading and there are obviously new posts, is there a way to just read the new posts?

This is driving me crazy. This board software is the clunkiest of the clunkies! There must be a way I am not seeing, right?

Account settings > Default View Preference: Most recently created topics first
Topics with most recent posts first > Tick the second box...

Also -- when you come to the board, click on "Recent posts" ... and you can scroll recent posts only.

I don't have a recent posts button. I already updated my settings that way. I have not ever seen a recent posts button :(
