Have a clear vision of who you are and what you want - be honest about your lifestyle and personality, Let this guide your decision of your surgeon and surgery type

Set goals for yourself other than numbers on a scale. Find a support group. Evaluate your progress based on gains, not losses.

Accepting the fact that for me I cannot eat things with sugar and gluten in moderation and taking a hard look at my past attempts to lose weight and keeping it off and realizing that every diet failure was proceeded by the idea that I could eat those things in moderation no matter how many times I had proved to myself that I couldn't.

Knowing what brought me to morbid obesity, being honest with myself and making changes in what foods I eat now.
