Fat to Protein to Carbs Ratio Question

I am curious what the ratio of fat, protein, and carbs should be. I am averaging 55% Protein, 25 Fat, and 20 Carbs. I am also consumig average 500 calories per day. I am two weeks out from Gastric Bypass/RNY and want to make sure I am not eating the wrong amounts. I am having three-four protein shakes per day and then some other high protein snacks in between. Thank you in advance.

Totally depends on what your surgeon suggests or his nutritionist. Many don't go by ratio but by grams of protein and carbs. If they didn't give you any guide lines then if you look to the right on the RNY page there should be a list of post op diet info to click on.

Hi,

Follow exactly what the nutritionist tells you. If you don't have one, it may be a good idea to find one.   Learn to develop a healthy relationship with food, portion control and healthy choices.  You are only two weeks out there is a lot to learn about your body and what it requires to be healthy. As you get more active, you will need to adjust your portions accordingly.

Enjoy your journey to good health!

You have received some good advice here but FWIW your ratios sound about like mine.

I do about 50% protein and about 25% each fat and carbs and have kept off all my weight after my RNY 6 years ago.  My protein was higher when I was losing and my fat was lower.  Carbs have always been about 25%.
