Bariatric Surgery Coverage Petition

I created a petition to help those with Coca Cola United Healthcare Coverage. I have double insurance and am ok...but many who work with Coca Cola are not. I found out last night my hubby's insurance covers nothing for bariatrics at all!

When the union chose to strike a few years ago the employees lost Bariatric Coverage on their insurance. All signatures will help.

Thanks!

Do you really think a petition is going to help? There are many insurance plans (and companies since many companies, of which Coca Cola is likely one, are self-insured) that are dropping coverage for weight-loss surgery (among other things) in order to keep costs down and therefore keep premiums down.

They likely dropped it in order to have money to meet other union demands from the strike.

UHC covers wls.  I know because I got my DS with it.  It does, however write riders to the policy to exclude wls at the request of the customer.  They lost bariatric coverage to pay for the other demands the union made upon the company.  There's got to be give and take.  You need to take it up with the union reps instead of the general public on this.  They are obviously the ones who aided in negotiations.  That's what they do.

The workers need to sign a petition to get wls covered not the public, why would they care what we think and for that matter it is probably a union negotiated item on their insurance.  You probably couldn't get the workers to agree to higher insurance premiums to coverage wls, it is just the way it is.  People never want to pay unless it effects them directly.  My friend works at a hospital and their insurance does not cover wls.

Coca Cola isn't the only organization that has excluded WLS from their employee policies.  Premiums continue to go up and cuts are made.  I agree it's the member's place to take the benefit options up with their union.

Many of us have self paid for WLS because of insurance exclusions.

This is between Coca Cola and their employees ...

I had my RNY 9+ years ago, when it was handed out with the luncheon vouchers because it wasn't nearly as popular as it is now - it's success may well end up being it's insurance failure - times are a changing and I think there are more insurances that don't offer it now than do!

I certainly couldn't get it now with the crappy insurance I've got!
