Bad Breath after surgery??

Hi!  I probably have a really weird question...but is bad breath a side affect of surgery?  I never had a problem with it before the surgery, but since the surgery I can tell that I have bad breath!!!  Not long after I brush my teeth too!  I don't know why or what it is from but I'm not liking it! My husband and my daughter both said something so I know I'm not just being self conscious!  Anyone else have this problem?

It can be a side effect of ketosis which is likely if you're eating a very low carb and high protein diet.  Perhaps listerine strips would help?

Yes, that's ketosis.  It's because your body is burning off fat and the byproducts of that combustion are ashes and CO2, etc.  Ashes in your breath have a nasty taste and smell.

Chew some mints, brush often, etc., and it will eventually go away.
