hi guys, I had my surgery on Monday at 2pm and was discharged about 4:30 pm on Wednesday. The nurses kept commenting on how good I was beacuse I made myself get up a lot and walk the hallway. Everything went well during and after surgery. I'm still having a lot of gas pains and that making it hard to get my water and protein shakes in. Been using the gas -x strips and slowly sipping. How long did it take you guys to get past the gas pain? Anyone have trouble getting the fluids in right away?

Sadly this is not the kind of pain that gas-x will resolve.  Walk as much as you can, that will help it to dissipate sooner.

Congratulations!  I had my RnY on September 9 and I can relate to all of what you are saying.  I still have gas pain but slowly it is getting better.  Water and protein shakes are a challenge but I am doing my best.  As for water I am at about 1.25 litre.  I have to increase that to at least 2 but right now 2 litres is impossible.

I had my surgery the day before yesterday (Sept 13) and I'm also finding it difficult to get the fluids down. Everything makes me gag and gagging makes my stomach hurt. I'm doing the best I can and hope this just kind of resolves itself. It worries me a little that I'm taking in so little nutrition and not hydrating enough. Is it getting easier for you yet?

It has gotten a bit better. Able to drink a bit more but doing it slowly.

Give it time.  Sip sip sip will be your standby mode.  The gas strips helped and gas really only lasted a few days.  Congratulations

I'm on day 8, and it was really days 6-7 when I started to really be able to increase my liquids, now it's easy peasy. Even the premiere protein shakes aren't gross anymore. As for the gas pain, I think it let up around day 5. I know you keep hearing it, but walk and sip, sip and walk, it really does get better and easier.

My gas pain stayed for a about a week. And yes I found it hard to ge****er in, I have only reached 64oz a few time in 4 months.
