Clothing Sizes

I went from a size 28 to a size 0. At the start it took about 40 pounds before I dropped a size but in the small sizes about 10 pounds would be the difference in sizes.

I lost a little over 100 pounds in total, but didn't drop any sizes until I had lost about 40 pounds, then I lost a size approximately every 10 pounds of weight loss.

I have lost 140lbs from a 26/28 to a 10/12. At first it took about 50lbs to drop a size. Now it is about every 10lbs.

This varies a lot, especially for lightweights. But, far and away, over the years I hear the most people say it took about 50 pounds to go down the first size. Those huge clothes were good and baggy.

For me, it was something like 60 for the first size, then 35, 25, 15, 10, 5 to go down subsequent sizes. The smaller you get, a few pound difference can have you change sizes, or skip a size altogether.

I am 5'5" -- I started at 347 lbs and wore a size 28/30.  I probably could have worn a 32 sometimes on the bottom...

Weight  -- Size

347 -- 28/30

300 -- 26/28

270 -- 26

250 -- 24

225 -- 20/22

215 -- 18/20s (in plus sizes-- not "regular" 18's)

200 -- 16/18's (16's in plus sizes)

180 -- 14/16/18 in regular sizes/misses

170 -- 12

160-165 -- 10 (this is where I could often wear junior sizes, too-- they are odd number sizes and often cut more narrowly)

150-155 -- 8

140's -- 6

125-135 -- 4 to 6's depending on brand  (I am pear-shaped)

Kat, this is pretty close to what is happening for me. :) Im also pear shaped. The butt and thighs are making my pants sizes higher but I can now wear xl in regular shirts, sometimes large. My arms though, it has to be a stretchy sleeve or non existent sleeve. My arms are still huge. I was wondering about this just the other day. Thanks to the OP for posting, and to all of you for replying!

Omg, this was perfect.  I am ordering a dress for a wedding I'm going to in the fall and had no idea what size to order.  This was very helpful!

Congratulations on your 43 pounds gone!!!!

Everyone is different.  It also depends on how much loose skin you have. I use to where Lipo in a Box and additional panty girdles from walmart.  I went from a size 32 to 0.  Focus on the positive, take photos once a month, measurements, note how much better you are feeling and getting around, has your energy gotten better.  When one aspect of losing weight is not doing it for you, then turn to one that does. It will happen, hang in there!
