I had to drive 1500 miles this week. I 'discovered' sliders at Arby's. (In truth I really had to use the bathroom and Arby's was the first place that found).

I loved the Turkey Slider. $1.29 ($1.41 after tax). A few ounces of turkey and a slice of melted cheese. Just perfect for lunch. (it is prob higher sodium than I would like -760 mgms of sodium). I pitched 3/4 of the roll.

What travel tips have you found??

Happy Trails to US!

14 gms prot

200 cal (I would subtract 50 for pitching most of the roll). So, 14gms prot and 150 cals is a good choice for me, except for the sodium

Does any one have a lower sodium choice.

We travel a lot, but mostly it's been 500-750 miles. I pack a cooler with yogurt and Babybel cheese, Snack cheese squares, jerky, P3 Protein Packs, pork rinds, moon cheese. I add in some protein shakes and bars just in case. I've now done that length trip 3 times since surgery and haven't needed to buy any fast food.

I rely on gas stations for quick food otherwise. They have jerky, hard boiled eggs, cheese and deli sandwiches to eat the meat from.

My travel is mainly in the MD to PA region, which means Wawa. I get cheese sticks and the pepperoni/cheese cups and hard boiled eggs and yogurt.. they've got lots of great things for my way of eating!

You can get deli bowls with tuna, chicken, or egg salad, but the mayo uses HFCS which I can't eat, so I can't do them. They're a great option for other people though.

And jerky :)

Starbucks has protein boxes with 20g of protein in the form of eggs, cheese, chicken, or peanut butter with some sliced apple, grapes, carrots or cucumbers.

I strip fast food. Examples include burrito supreme without the tortilla at taco smell, a naked morning mac at McWombats, order without the muffin.

Bojangles has roasted chicken bites. I pair that with some cajun pinto beans.

I don't sweat the sodium since my BP is naturally low. I actually need it.
