I check the board usually everyday. Hope the rest of you check it often. We all know first hand what we are dealing with. That is so helpful to me cause no one else understands when we say hurt, we really mean hurt. I don't know about the rest but that sure helps me to know someone actually knows what I mean.... Sometimes I think people just look at me like I am nuts......In the winter we deal with all the cold hurting and then the summer all the humidty and heat. Wow we can't win. Sorry I am just venting fibro sisters!! Lets all keep in touch more:0)

Topic: RE: Question regarding WLS and fibro, chronic pain
Hello,
I am three years post-op and lost from 278 to 105 and now at 145. My goal weight is 130 and I was doing good for the most part. I do have to get iron infusions since WLS but all in all felt much better. I recently moved here to Germany and started having lots of pain in legs, jaw, neck, back and arms. I felt terriable hurt all the time and sometime can not even move. I have had this headache for I don't even know how long. Doctor said I have fibromyalgia after ruling everything else out. But told me basically it is something I have to deal with. It has been rough. Hurting all the time mood swings like crazy and all the meds just make it worst. They will not do anything but said trial and error on meds but basically its my fault that I need to excersise and destress. My life is stressful and thats just all there is about it. I am a military wife, student and stationed in a country that I have no friends or family in. I can not drive bc of all the meds and some days can't even walk hardly.

Topic: RE: Fibromyalgia and Parathyroid Hyperactivity
Hi Kelly,
I still have significant fibro pain.  I don't feel quite as fatigued.  Unfortunately, my COBRA insurance has been exhausted and I'm unemployed for almost 2 years.  So, healthcare takes a back seat to expenses.  Its about $200 to run a vitamin D test.  I'm putting it off as long as I can!  I'll let you know how it goes!

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia long before RNY surgery.  I have seen it destroy so many people that I decided to "act as if" I DON"T have it.  I just don't want to give into it.  I have a pretty high pain threshold and I take amitryptaline at night and that seems to help.  The vitamin D, however, I think is helping as well.

Hope that helps!

Bonni,

People can get SSDI for Fibromyalgia, but they must really prove to the SSA that they are unable to become gainfully employed in any capacity.  You must get your doctors behind you, and you must save ALL medical records.  I would also recommend utilizing a specialized Social Security Disability Attorney.

I am an Army Wife. I take something called Topamax because the nuronin made me gain too much weight. I was hungry all the time. I take flexiril (muscle relaxer)as needed and tramadol for pain as needed. You know what really helps??? they won't tell you about it because most doctors don't know that it works. Lidoderm patches (Lidocaine). You can cut them to make them go further. Tricare covers them and they don't make the area numb like the lidocaine that your dentist shoots in your mouth for fillings. they are awsome and they help your pain go away. You will love them!!!!!!. Get a referral to pain management like I did. But, your doctor on base can give you a prescription for pain patches. Ask them to give you a prescription for 3 patches per day or else they will only give you one box. If you have pain in many places, you will want the 3 patches. These patches last for 12 hours. They are a miracle. I used to be on Morphine and Percocet and I am off all of it now. I hope this helps you. I feel for you, I really do. One more thing, Have them check your vitamin levels. I just found out that my Parathyroid (not the same thing as thyroid) was high because Vitamin D and calcium were low. Parathyroid regulates vitamin D and calcium in the body. my bones and muscles have ached for 2 years. thiamine, vitamin c, whole chemical imbalance going on and many doctors overlooked it. I have been exhausted. I am telling you, the patches will help.. I promise they will help with your pain. The good thing is that it doesn't look like your trying to score drugs either.

I have been batteling getting enough sleep and good sleep myself. The past three months have been especially bad.  I was using benedryll for a few years. I have used ambien in the past. I have used lunesta in the past month and currently ambien again. The dr has me going back and forth between benedryll and ambein right now. Some days I feel rested and most days I do not. Most nights I do not sleep more than 4 hours. The past week has been better. I have been out of work for the summer because I teacher. Worried about how my sleep or lack there of is going to affect me.

I am 33 and was diagnosed about 4 or 5 years ago. Lyrica did not work for me. I am currently taking Cymbalta and it seems to be helping some. I have also been diag. with bipolar, but it has not interfered so far. If it does, the dr will add another med at a small dose. I also have migraines, anemia, arthritis, depression, anxiety, and probably leaving something out. But I take Topomax, Imetrex, cymbalta, birth control, flexiril, and ambien. Hope that helps

Topic: RE: Question regarding WLS and fibro, chronic pain
Hi, I am 33 but can relate. When I was at my top weight, 298, in December of 2009 I decided to get busy. I had been diagnosed with arthritis in my knees, fibro. and pre diab. Oh, and don't forget migraines of course. I had been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and panic attacks. I work full time, although I am daily exhausted and in pain daily. I am on and have been on medication since forever. So, I somewhat feel your pain. Now the good news. I did have RNY surgery last July 2010 and at the time of surgery I weight 264. So, I had lose some on my own. Well, with support of course. Now I am down to 175. Thank you Jesus! So, I can move around easier. The migraines and pain continue. Medications have been altered and help. Mood swings have increased and meds have been changed. It is a day to day battle, but it sounds like you know all about that already. But the surgery has helped so much!  Good luck.
