Wednesday Workouts!
Hey, Everyone! What is everyone doing today?
It's a rest day for me, but after looking at the miles I piled on for August, and experiencing a little pain in my knees, I have decided to back off from mileage and integrate more cross-training with less joint stress while I slowly build up a sustainable mileage base using a schedule I CONVENIENTLY swiped from a marathon-training site.
Running is so addictive, and it's definitely built up my legs and strengthened my heart, but I definitely do not want an overuse injury.
So, what is everyone else up to on this fine, bright Wednesday?

did a medium bike ride this morning on some tough hills (North Georgia foothills just before the Smokies etc)... did 37.5 miles in 2:08:53 for an average of 17.5 MPH, this is an improvement over an average of 17.0 MPH on my first run at this route about a month ago...
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

My gym is closed for a massive cleaning this week, so today I worked out outside.
20 minute warm up - run/walk
hills - three sets of four
sit-ups - three sets of 15
push ups - three sets of 15
ab crossovers/twists - three sets of 15
It doesn't seem like alot when I write it down, but it felt WAY better than my longer gym workout yesterday!

Work is cutting into my available training time this week, so I opted for intensity over endurance today.
1 mile warm-up at 10:00
3x1200 meter intervals at 8:34 with 200 meter recovery
Total miles: 3

I had a work meeting after my shift ended then we had our monthly Weight Loss Support Group so I didn't get any form of exercise in for the day. I did however encourage everyone at the WLS Group to get out and do something for exercise. I told them that no matter how big, small, young, or old you are....you have to move. I told them that for my birthday in October I didn't want my family and friends to have a party for me with cake, ice cream, ect. Instead I want them to meet me at the trail where my wife and I walk and simply take a walk with me. My present is to see them get up, get out and move.
