I know what you mean about getting out in nice weather, I can't wait for it to warm up!  I'm glad that you've seen such great progress :)  I've been up & down with wt & exercise many times & it feels great every time.

Did my hr of jiu jitsu with the guys tonight, but!  a new girl came who was checking out the dojo.  She's never done jiu jitsu before, but has a total of 8 yrs of various martial arts experience.  It was a lot of fun to roll with her, she's quite challenging.  It's obvious to me that she has wrestling experience.  It was really good to have someone who's a good level & comparable size/ gender to practice with!  I hope she comes back :)

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I did 2 miles on the tm today.  My knee is really starting to bother me so when I was done, I did lots of knee strengthening exercises and only had time to get in a shoulder workout.  It's time to hit the knee exercises  and hope that works.  I need to be more consistant with the ice also.

Last night I went a bit overboard, and signed up with a personal trainer for a one-year commitment.  Got in  a short 3 mile run on the treadmill, 30-minutes on the bike, and then did some weights.

Getting back into weight training will make the weight maintenance much easier since a pound of lean muscle burns a lot more calories than a pound of fat.    I'll still do my cardio (and my runs), but will focus on getting leaner for the summer.  It's interesting that cardio only burns while your perfroming, whereas muscle building keeps working all day long.

Oh well, let's wait and see the results.

Got to the gym too late last night.
Only managed to get in 3.11 miles before they started to close down.
Must do more tonight.  I think I'm going to have some down time this weekend.  So I need to build a running buffer to keep my goal on line.

Longest run of the year for me yet!! 5 miles in 49:34. Not a blistering pace because at the 1/2 mile mark,I got a cramp in my calf that just WOULD NOT go away!  This seems to be becoming a trend on some of my longer distances. Anybody have any advice on how to aleviate this problem?
BTW, what is the best way to handle a cramp when running? I have always just ran through it but a good friend of mine says that I should stop and stretch it and then continue to run.

I did 50 minutes on the eliptical last night-came out to about 4 miles. I upped the resistance so I was happy with the work out. I then swam for 10 minutes.
