HS basketball officiating is winding down and football officiating training starts again in a few months (that has PT).  I ran at lunch today for the fiorst time in 2 weeks and ,...man I stink,...3 miles in 45 min.  SO I'm a bit fired up to get back into my daily regime.  I have proved to myself that going up and down the basketball court was not even maintaining my stamina and speed.
Even though I've got to admit, some of those recreation league weekends with 5-8 games a day kicked my butt when they were the older boys games and their frequent fast breaks.
Being my first year officiating, I was afraid if I ran and tried to officiate, I'd be too tired to do all of my assignments.  I see now, it should have been supplemental to running. Lesson learned.  I also subscribed to Referee magazine and they did a profile on a college ref and he ran to stay in shape in addition to his traveling and officiating games.   Now I know,.....

Live and learn Joe.  That's the best we can do.  Great job thinking about it and deciding what you need to do for you!
